Trunk latch on driver side won't open
A Saturn Sky is a 2 seater and has no rear fold down seats and no key to open the trunk lid.
I fixed mine by bending a metal skewer in the shape of a checkmark. The hook part is only about an inch long. Slide it under the rubber grommet of the closed buttress to grab the rod that catches the buttress. You can tell what you are looking for by looking in the hole of the one that still releases. Use the remote to see what direction it moves in when you look in the hole. Takes some time, but you will eventually free the buttress. When you open the lid, peel back the liner to the trunk lid that is just below the hole you freed the buttress from. You need to repair the broken plastic that was pulling the wire that pops the release. On mine, the plastic was broken on both sides. May as well fix both while you are there. I used lead weights from the local fishing store. Should be able to get them at Walmart or someplace like that. A whole bag of them cost 75 cents or something. The lead is soft so you can wrap it around the wire replacing the plastic. Test the tension before putting the felt cover back on the lid. Sounds like a lot, but it's not hard as much as it is time consuming. Total cost: about $1.00. Especially if you get the metal skewer from the 99 Cent store.
