My 61" Samsung DLP has loud Buzzing sound - Everything else ok

My lamp seems ok all is good, picture is good, just a very loud high frequency buzzing sound. Like a grinder

    I have that same problem with my 61" and it's very annoying. Hope someone can help with a solution.

    I have a 50" doing the same thing and getting louder especially on start up. Could it be the fan?

    I have the same problem with my Samsung 46", Model HLR4667WAX/XAA. Some electronics guy said he thinks the the color whelel is bad.

There are only 2 moving parts on a dlp tv the color wheel and the fan. The color wheel needs to be replaced about every 4 to 5 years. Some start to make noise and others like mine blow up with a bang. Go to utube to get instructions on how to replace it only cost me for part $100 good luck

Hi Karen,

It sounds like the color wheel of your unit gone to malfunction and trigger that kind of symptoms. It needs to check by a qualified TV Technician because this kind of symptoms is not a DIY unless you have an experienced in electronics. If the buzzing sound came in front of the lamp assembly, then high chance that the color wheel is already faulty. Lamp, ballast board, fans are also a suspect here.

I have a hd61lpw165 big screen tv that makes a loud buzzing sound as soon a it goes on with no picture.
sounds like the lamp or ballast, check the lamp first to see if good, then if good, then probably the ballast is bad, but I think the sound or buzzing is coming from the ballast, so it's should be good.

My samsung 42 inch hdtv is making a buzzing noise
First. The whirring or buzzing sound you hear is the Color Wheel and it needs to be replaced. Second, since I do not know when and if the original lamp has been replaced it is a good idea to replaced the lamp. The bad Color Wheel is the one causing the set to shut down.

Loud humming or buzzing when set is in operation
Does the picture gets distorted in any way when you hear the buzzing noise?
I would suggest to check all the cooling fans for proper operation.

Odd sound from Samsung DLP TV
Buzzing could be related to the lamp/ballast connection. Try removing and reinserting the lamp look for arching marks on the contacts that would suggest that the connection wasnt good.
