The cycle will go through however the detergent and the softner won't drain into the wash cycle
SOURCE: softner stopped draining out of the compartment
try pouring really warm water in the compartment or using small soft toothbrush type brush to clean out the build up of softener. You might try thinning your softener in the future with water if it is very thick. this works for me
SOURCE: The fabric softner isn't draining during cycle but
When cleaning the softener chamber, make sure you remove and clean the syphon tube thoroughly. This is the only chamber designed to handle liquid. Otherwise, check that you have sufficient water pressure and that the cold valve opens fully. If you dont hear a decent gush of water during the rinse cycle, it's either pressure or the valve.

Remove the drawer by pushing the tab at the top of the drawer and pull it out and check for an obstruction. They regualarly plug up with gummy fabric softenener. Try washing out with hot water and reinstall

Hi Jeannette,
If the washer is not
draining then it is due to a clogged drain pump or a drain filter or a kinked
drain hose. To resolve the issue you'll need to clean the drain hose, inspect
if the drain hose is plugged. If the hose is fine, then remove the front kick
panel and access the drain pump and filter, if you are unable to find the pump
and filter remove the back panel as well and trace the drain hose to the bottom
of the tub. There is a drain filter connected with the drain pump. It usually
gets clogged, and needs to be cleaned every 6-8 months or so. The drain filter
is a small white filter connected to drain pump with a hose. If it still
doesn't work then you'll need to check the connections of the drain pump, check
the electrical connections with a multimeter. If it still doesn't work then you
would need to replace the drain pump. Hope this helps... Please post back if
you need more information. Daniel
Hello fopdycke - Typically when a washer does not spin, it is because the unit cannot properly drain and dispose of the water and detergent solution. Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, the drainage pump or hose may be clogged and needs to be cleaned. If not, the washer may possibly be experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, timer, faulty pump or control board not communicating correctly. I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the washer to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.
