Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier 696-12

Humififer works well with one problem. The amount of mist to too large and everthing nearby gets wet very quickly. This is despite setting the nozzle at the most restrictive position. The humidifier carries a label that indicates mist production will take 6 minutes to start. I get mist within 15 seconds. Is there an adjustment I can make to reduce mist volume? Taking the unit apart I only found one possible adjustment screw near the nebulizer (beneath a metal plate). I did tighten this screw (clockwise) without any apparent improvement in mist volume. Should I re-open and back-out this screw?

yes, plus the mist last only 5 minutes, not 15 hours....I don't know what is wrong with this piece of ****.

My Sunbeam puts out a spray instead of a mist, and everything around becomes soaking wet. It's clean. I have no idea what went wrong.

Tentative on the Solution icon ...

I picked this up a couple days ago at the Salvation Army, 3 bucks. I also had way too much damp coming out, saturating anything near.

I read through the comments, and one folk said they uncovered the spaz unit and tightened the screw they found there, to no avail. They asked if they should reopen and loosened the screw ...

Which I did. Took me a while, and maybe those who aren't used to investigating the inner workings shouldn't try it unless they're willing to make a mistake and throw it away, but ...

I loosened the screw. Not sure if it was a quarter turn or a half turn; I wanted to do more and have learned many times that "more" is not "better."

I have a cardboard box in front of the unit for hours now, and it is not saturated.

The factory setting, whether it be for all or some, is too wet. Loosening the screw that shows through the computer board has, for me, made the unit more tolerable. Takes an eyeglass-screwdriver to get it done, but if'n ya has the general know-how to investigate things, maybe it'll work for you.

I took it apart as per your suggestion, found the screw, tightened it which made it worse, and then, loosened it again, but only to where it was in the first place, as I couldn't turn it any further to the left. For some reason, this amount of fussing has lessened the spray tremendously. Thanks!

There is not mist coming out. What should I do??

The moisture released by this (or any ultrasonic) humidifier should not be visible, so it is very possible that it is working correctly. Try filling the reservoir and marking the water level with a small piece of tape. Then run the humidifier for a few hours, and check the water level again. If the water level is below the edge of the tape, then you know it is releasing moisture into the air, and everything is working fine.

The older style of humidifiers created a mist by spinning a disk that was partly dipped into the water reservoir. They had to be refilled often, and the mist could leave water spots or dust on nearby furniture. The water level should change very slowly in your ultrasonic humidIfier compared to a misting humidifier.

Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier SUL495 quit working in first week. What may have happened.

Same problem. It worked for about a week, then gradually stopped producing mist. No solution.

No mist, but i can see a water droplet fountain on the surface

if it's a cool mist unit it will not produce any mist. now if it's a warm mist unit it should. that's normal. it is possible to replace the transducer if it is damage but you are going to have some leakage from it. but the only way to get the transducer mainly is from the manufacturer

Sunbeam ultrasonic humidifier runs but produces no mist

It sounds very much like the transducer has failed. This is likely a crystal transducer and since they produce the agitation that should cause a mist, they are running continuously; not a good thing for something that is trying to shake iteslf apart all the time. These require input from a circuit that produces the fairly high level of power needed to drive the crystal so it could also be the source of the problem.
This isn't something an owner is able to diagnose unless they have some technical training.

Sunbeam ultrasonic cool mist humidifer model 700

The Problem is minerals in the water. Impeller and ultrasonic designs send these minerals into the air. If the water in your area contains a lot of minerals, you will notice them as dust. The EPA does not issue health warnings about minerals in the air, but does recommend using low-mineral water (such as distilled water) in your humidifier. Many ultrasonic models feature a demineralization cartridge that filters minerals out of the water to prevent the dust.

Good Luck.

Humidifier mist won't come out of tube

sounds like the small fan that is located in the base isn`t pushing the mist out. unplug it then take all the screws out of the base. there are screws under the black foam stands too. be careful not to touch anything that looks like live wires while you look inside then look inside while it is pluged in. it should turn. check for something blocking it like lint or dirt..you may be able to clean around the shaft with w d 40
