Both left and right speakers play audio for right speaker
I'm not sure why, but all of a sudden, my left speaker no longer plays the "left speaker" channel -- when I hit "test tone", no sound comes out for the left speaker, but both the left *and* right speaker play the audio for the right speaker. I've tried unplugging and re-plugging-in the cables -- it hasn't changed anything. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Re: both left and right speakers play audio for right...
I think you mean the left channel is out but when you use test tone, the sound comes from left and right channels through the right channel speaker. If this is case, the switching IC is malfuncting. Unit needs service

If your Kenwood KR-V7060 receiver is only playing sound through the center speaker, it could indicate a problem with the receiver's internal audio processing or speaker configuration settings. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Check the speaker configuration settings. Make sure that the receiver is set to play sound through all speakers, and not just the center speaker. You can check this in the receiver's menu or by consulting the user manual.
Check the speaker wire connections. Make sure that all the speaker wire connections are tight and secure, and that there are no loose wires or frayed connections.
Check the balance and tone settings. Make sure that the balance and tone settings are not set to favor the center speaker, and that the left and right speakers are not muted.
Check the receiver's internal audio processing. Make sure that the receiver's internal audio processing is set to play sound through all speakers, and not just the center speaker.
If the above steps don't solve the problem, it could indicate a more serious issue with the receiver's internal audio processing or speaker configuration settings. It's recommended to contact Kenwood customer service or a professional technician for further assistance.
It's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines when performing any maintenance or repairs on the receiver, to ensure the safety and proper functioning of the receiver.
It's also important to check the receiver's warranty status and the manufacturer's instructions to ensure that the repair or replacement will not void the warranty.
Keep in mind that troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment can be dangerous if you are not familiar with the proper procedures. If you are not comfortable with performing the troubleshooting yourself, it's best to contact a professional technician for assistance.
What exactly do you mean by "middle volume settings"? Where is the volume control physically, where are the channel levels set and what is the crossover point? After the crackling appears , do you switch speakers to the right channel to see if speakers are actually damaged or if the receiver is producing the distortion?
Are you sure you wired up the head unit correctly? It is fairly uncommon for a audio output amplifier to blow out leaving 3 working speakers and 1 not working. So more than likely it is bad wiring or a blown speaker. Best bet would be get a digital multimeter and ohm out the speaker and see if it has continuity and is the same as the adjacent speaker. You could also try swapping the left/right channel wiring and see if the front right speaker stops working when connected to the left speaker output or vice versa.
check your speaker wiring, make sure both terminals are connected properly. or could just be left speaker is disconnected. and is set in stereo mode which will only play left and right front and Sub, if you have one. try chaning the surround mode to play in multi channel speaker which will send sound to all speakers. i trust your using a Digital audio cable from your source ( cable box, DVD player) if your using analog audio cable you will only get stereo sound, and nothing will ever come out of the rear speaker unless you change the surround mode to multi- channel speaker. also in the setup menu you should be able to perform a speaker setup, make sure all your speakers are able to produce sound. follow speaker setup mode in menu, make sure you have checked the boxes or Yes to speaker you have in your system. then perform calibration and a test tone will come out of each speaker as you select them.

5.1 plays surround sound tracks when available, when playing an audio track that was recorded in stereo (2 channel) it should only emit from the front left and right speaker, and when playing a movie in 5.1 at points in the audio track all five speakers should emit sound. Is this the case?
With the radio on u will need to push audio button it will change to something different on the face push until speaker balance comes up & then push butons below it left or right to balance each side of speakers. For me it was the left speakers that i needed to balance good luck John
it is highly likely that you're TV is outputting mono sound, hence the left channel only. check your physical connections to the TV and the balance / channel volume on the television as well.
