Do you mean you want to use the tv not through cable program?. ok just remove the cable box then hooked up an air antenna to the RF tuner. then change the settings in the tv select air not cable.

That means your tv cant support the cable that way do it the way it suppose to be as you do it before. or check the company they will be able to help you by sending personels from the company to assist you.but with a fee i believe.
was the VHS recording before the new high definition TV was installed? Or are you trying to say that the cable company has tempered with the settings of the VHS?
Probably, the cable company, has removed the cable for the player. Check the back of the player and let me know if the cable between the player and the TV are intact.

Sounds to me very much like the installer messed up. I would begin by confirming that there are absolutely no cables to the Sanyo, which if you checked the back is unlikely. I have never seen connections anywhere but teh front and back of anything other that a TV or game system. Once you are confident that the system is not connected, contact his company and inform them that he failed to hook that piece of equipment back up. It is their responsibility to make sure that it gets done.
Check your set-up screen for something like a choice of HRC, IRC. Those are the different cable standards. Select one, and if that doesn't work, try the other. Of course if you have digital cable-you are out of luck and must use the cable companies converter box- and there is no way around that box.
