SOURCE: JVC 36" TV will not power on and has a blinking power light...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, when an electronic device/equipment fails when powered with and by a generator, it is the power supply unit (PSU). The PSU circuitry expects a fairly constant/stable power source (120 or 220). The output of the generator tends to fluctuate especially under varying electrical load. Additionally, the AC frequency (60Hz) of the generator's output also tend to vary which most PSUs don't like. A noteworthy point to consider is that the generator is floating electrically, its output has no reference to earth/ground.

If you are considering a DIY (do-it-yourself), foremost to inspect would be the PSU particularly the regulator transistor and determine if it outputs +5 and ~+135 VDC. Another to check would be the HOT (horizontal output transistor). If when the TV was used powered by a generator, there was considerable vertical rolling, the vertical deflection IC would also be a suspect.

A friendly reminder, exercise caution when repairing TVs. It stores up EHV (extremely high voltage). It would be to your advantage to reference a service manual (JVC AV-36D303) or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

The yellow/red/white cables are COMPOSITE cables. COMPONENT cables are RED/BLUE/GREEN. You can buy those at any electronics store. Your best bet, though, is to stick with HDMI if you can.

There is a red, white yellow cable on one end and red, blue and blue cable on the other end

One side is standard, Other is HD. Red to Red Blue to White AND When you have Green it goes where Yellow would. Other Blue Would replace Green too. hope that helps. Pretty normal if your TV is HD Ready. Most DVD boxes are standard color coding. Try that.

Greets - You are mixing cables up. You need to connect the Dazzle yellow, red, white cables to the yellow, red white cables on the TV. You can't plug standard video/audio cables into the component (red, blue, green) connectors on the TV.
take a look at this diagram, just pretend the devices on the left are all connectors on your TV.

If by regular cables you are talking about the standard red/yellow/white composite cables, then, yes, it will affect HD as composite cannot send an HD signal. Only HDMI and component (red/blue/green video only) cables.

Change to HDMI and let us know if it works for you.

No red when hooking up component cable for dlp hd tv. Only blue and green colors show on hd component input for charter hd cable box. Are there any internal adjustments that need to be made through either...

Check the red cable this is where the red comes from, you may have a bad cable, maybe use the blue or green one just to see if the red will come through, it can be the cable box or the tv or the cable itself.

Green tinted people

The only time I have had issues like this was because of the Component Cables not being in the right position (the Red and Blue connections switched), or a bad Component Cable where the Blue Connection is not receiving a signal. Swap out the cable to be sure and double check that it is properly installed. Green to Green, Red to Red , Blue to Blue.
Hope this helps,

Hd dvr

if you are connecting the dvr via component video cables select the output to 480i and not 480p or other higher formats.the tv cannot support anything higher than 480i. or try using composite video hookup instead.
