I have a Lenovo U260 laptop and since I bought it the built in mic is not working, it just makes a screeching sound and no voice...already tried reinstalling the drivers but didn't work..PLEASE HELP
Hello, "Ana Gonzalez".
Your problem sounds like you don't have the software setup right.
Since you could post your problem here,
I suggest that you either use the Lenova website to research this,
or check out the website for their support options.
I've seen a number of systems with software settings improperly applied, causing the microphone to malfunction.
Or to cease to function at all.
Without either a screenshot or the exact name and version of the software, its not possible to more precise.
However, IF you can open the software for the audio control, the volume, and the mic, then you should check to make sure that it is setup correctly.
Hopefully helpful,

I believe the problem is that your mic isn't working properly so follow these instructions:
1: Go to control panel and click on "sound"
2: When the sound window opens click on "recording" you should find the built in mic there in the dialog.
3: Click on your built in mic and click on configure.
4: Then, click on "levels" and set the microphone level to 50 and the microphone boost to +20.0dB
If that doesn't work try doing a system restore.Or you could try restoring the defaults on the sound pref.

You can go to any service center (or) the dealer for this problem.

Sounds like something with your motherboard. If an external mouse is doing the same thing it might be the mouse controller on the motherboard. If still under warranty give them a call.
