4-function switch can be 4 individual switches in a bank of switches, or it can be a combination of switch and timers.
Some timers need a neutral wire, while others, such as spring-wound timers do not need neutral wire: each of these items is wired separately.

Copy following link for switch illustrations, including 4 function switches.

My ceiling fan has four wires a green, blue, White, black. I need to know which wire goes where. Model # 513S-G

You will need to have two switches on the wall if you want the light and fan to operate separately. The blue wire is for the fan and the black is for the light. If you have only one switch for both you can hook the blue and black together and then connect that to the black hot wire in the box. The light and fan functions will have to then operate off of the pull chains as the switch will either have both on or off.

How do i re-connect the 110v Relay, dont know where the wires goe, there are three cords, one from thermo, one from motor and another from the motor side some where.

You will need to verify with a meter.

I expect the thermostat wire will go to the relay coil, one will be a live supply and the other to feed the motor, the latter two will be connected to the relay contacts.

It is possible the motor is switched on the neutral side for added safety and in this case the wire from the motor will seem to be live and the other wire will be a neutral.

As there are three wires to the relay instead of the expected four - two for the coil and two for the contacts - I expect one end of the energising coil is connected internally to one of the switch contacts. In this case it will be necessary to connect the motor/supply wires the correct way around for it to function.

Removed the switch plate and connected the two wires going into the dimmer box and the lights still dont come on. I as thikning by bypassing the dimmer the lights should still function. What else could be...

Hi Jay,
Ive suspect that there's a problem in the main line of the wiring. Since four halogen bulb are already replaced with a new bulb and bypassed the dimmer switch concentrate now on the wiring and the main panel board. Look for a tripped/busted breaker on the box, reset it.Replaced if busted. If nothing works, you need to check the wiring on the ceiling for open.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!

I have a westinghouse three speed fan. there are 4 wires a black, purple orange and yellow . the new switch has four connectors L 1,2,3 does any one know witch goes where? thanks , i bought the new switch...

ok. hope this helps, use a switch from FANTEC. it'll be called a 3 speed fan switch. CAM #5 No. 21105. this will also say Single Layer 3 or 4 wire application SPLIT continuity function.. THE SPLIT PART IS VITAL. now when wire it. the BLACK wire goes in SLOT 3. ORANGE wire goes in L. PURPLE wire goes in slot 2, ORANGE wire goes in slot 1. IF, and i repeat IF this does not work for you ensure you have a SPLIT CONTINUITY FUNCTION switch. NO MATTER WHAT the BLACK wire WILL go into slot 3. the ORANGE wire WILL go in slot L. switch the orange and purple wires only. ENSURE POWER IS OFF WHEN CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING WIRES. YOU WILL GET THE SNOT ZAPPED OUTTA YOU IF YOU DON'T. please post if this helps.

Have new switch for belle 110v cement mixer

This should be pretty easy. you should have either two or four wires in the box and two or four hook ups on the switch. the wires in the box must stay aligned with the matching colors so if your switch has four connections but you only have two wires hook them up to the post opposite each other top to bottom. (they need to both be on the same side) if you have four wires but only two switch posts wire nut the two white (or blue) together and switch the black (or brown). The important thing to remember is the power needs to come in on go into the switch or breaker first.

Fan/stove light switch broke needs replacing

The original fan switch for the SEG196 (circa 1995) is a four terminal switch- two for the fan and two for the light . Note that the switch spade lugs for the red and blue wires (which when connected activate the fan) are larger than those for the white and brown wires (which when connected activate the oven light). This design presumably prevented miswiring of the switch at original assembly. Since the four terminal switch is nearly impossible to find (it was discontinued several years ago), an inexpensive fix is to replace the four wire switch with a two wire SPST toggle switch. However, this means that either the fan function or the light function can be preserved- not both. I elected to keep the fan function, and simply wired the red & blue wires to the two terminals of a heavy duty replacement SPST toggle switch. Be sure to fully insulate the remaining (in this case) white and brown wires with electrical tape or wire nuts before tucking them below the new switch. Total cost: $6.00 for switch. NOTE: TURN OFF POWER TO RANGE AT ELECTRICAL PANEL BEFORE ATTEMPTING REPAIR! beec3807-1ba5-40e7-a010-7e26d5fca5c0.jpg
