Batteries for Renegade power wheel chair won't charge

I have a Renegade power wheel chair in pristine condition, but the batteries are both dead, and seemingly will not accept a charge. I charged them for over 24 hours with the charger that came with the chair, but after that time period, the batteries less than 1/2 volt per battery. The charger in question is functional. The owner's manual claims that this charger begins its cycle by charging slowly, then builds up as the batteries accept the charge more readily. I don't have a separate "trickle charger" available. Is that the answer, or does someone out there have something better up their sleeve?

SOURCE: new battries won't charge.

Sounds like the batteries are completely dead, you'll probably need to replace them, sometimes you can only use batteries until they die, and that goes for Wheelchair Batteries too. If they won't charge or keep a charge then they are dead.

SOURCE: batteries not charging - just replaced

1st Check the 25amp inline fuse located behind the volt meter. 2nd Check the 50 amp fuse located behind the foot rest. A pin located under the foot rest when pulled out will open the front to access the fuse.

SOURCE: Wheel chair won't move. Batteries have been

Romp, Did you check the freewheel levers chair will not move if you are in freewheel. Levers are in front next to seat posts and need to be facing forward. If you are not in freewheel then check the number of lights you have on on the joystick and that they aren't flashing. Also check that your speed control is not on the lowest setting even with some charge a slow speed setting will not let the chair move. Now by some charge you mean lights in the green on the joystick? If the lights aren't flashing then I'm kinda unsure other than even with some charge the batteries don't have enuf current to drive the motors and need to be replaced Hoe this helps

Battery charger on quantum electric wheelchair starts out ember color then starts flashing red I check wires everything is plugged check it about 3 months ago everything was ok now th chair won't

Did you charge it at all during the 3 months? Did you store chair on a full charge? Check to see if batteries are dead. Batteries should be disconnected and/or stored on a full charge. If left connected they should be fully charge every week.

My jazzy was sitting for a year, without battery charge. now, the batteries won't charge. what shoul i do?

I strongly suspect your batteries are dead. The unfortunate part is that the gel batteries used in power chairs will not usually take a charge after they are completely depleted. The only solution is to load test the batteries and replace BOTH of them even if only one tests bad. ( I think you'll find that both batteries are dead)

The Battery does not seem to charge so I want to remove it and see if it will charge if connected to an external charger. How do I remove the said batteries?

Remove the batteries .. Every Chair is different .. but if the batteries aren't charging it's probably that they were left uncharged for a time and they dropped down enough that the charger dosn't recognize them .. If they drop down below around 6 volts the charger won't charge them ... I have taken batteries out and charged them individualy with a car charger .. but they never come back .. at best half life.

Batteries won't charge

are the batteries over 4 years old? these particular batteries will lose their ability to hold a charge over time, and charging them will not have any effect. you could also have the charger tested. batteries plus stores can test the charger and the batteries for you.

Jazzy wheel chair

When a chair sits for a long period of time ( four weeks or more) without being charged, the batteries die. To help you with the freewheel mode I would have to know what model of Jazzy it is.

Battery shows 24.8 volts no power

Yes, your batteries are trashed. You need to replace them. Or take them off the chair and put them on a car charger, slow charge. They need to be up over 24VDC. If they fall under 24VDC the charger won`t recognize them and won`t charge.
