Overloaded generator I have a Dometic CAL 130 A/C which operates perfectly on 240V Mains supply, but when using a Honda EU20I generator the A/C puts the generator into overload mode after operating for 10-20 minutes. Using a clamp meter the A/C runs at 4.6 amps but when the problem occurs the meter amps up to 14.6 amps and the generator goes into overload mode. I was advised to change the thermostat which I have done, and it made no difference, i still have the same problem. Can someone please advise whats going on, as Dometic can't help me. The generator and the A/C have operated okay for the past 8 years, until this current issue.

Is there a operation manual for Miller and falls ATS

This manual is all I could find. Instructions and Parts List for Setting Up and Operating Millers Falls Langdon Acme Mitre Box, Langdon Mitre Box : Form No. M709 : Millers Falls Co. : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

I also found a few results on the web for "miller and falls generator automatic transfer switch". One of the results is a 240V Automatic Transfer Switch by Millers Falls that can be used with GSD7500 & GSD9000 Series Diesel Generators . This switch can be wired directly to the house or workshop mains power fuse box. In Automatic mode, the switch will automatically start the generator if mains power fails for whatever reason. Once the generator is up to full speed and generating voltage at 50Hz, the switch will feed the power into the required load point. When mains power is restored, the ATS will transfer load from the generator back to mains power then shut down the generator. This same function can also be performed in manual mode if required. The wiring of the ATS must only be performed by a licensed electrician. The solenoid operating mechanism of the ATS ensures a high-speed transfer of loads between alternate sources of power, regardless of current draw. These ATS transfer boxes are available in 3 models to suit Millers Falls GSD7500 & GSD9000 (silenced & open frame) diesel generators, GSD13000 diesel generators (silenced & open frame), GSC12000i-Y & GST11000A petrol generators

My dometic refrigerator DM2652 is cooling in gas mode but will not switch to AC. The unit is getting power but the "auto" light will not come on.

That fridge has 2 elements. A 12v and mains 240v/120v. Sounds like the mains element or the fuse has blown. The fuse box is in behind the fridge at the bottom. Follow the power cord to the box. There should be 3 fuses. Check them all. Using a multimeter, check the readings of both elements. Google " Dometic Service manual DM2652 pdf" and page 11 should help you.

The device clearly states "AC ~ 220-240v", but is it safe to use a 250v cable? We lost the original cable.

A cable rated UP TO 250v (for it's a maximum rating, not a target) will be perfectly safe with a machine operating at between 220-240v

I overloaded my powermate generator, now it won't generate electricity

Hi!

You need to change your AVR/Capacitor. (Depends on what is fitted to your generator. 2-4 wires = capacitor. 5+ wires = AVR) and you can purchase them here:

https://www.generatorguru.com/powermate/

and capacitors for other models here: https://www.generatorguru.com/capacitors/

FYI, it overloaded the Alternator Output.

Please be aware the total wattage is split between the 2 lowest voltage sockets (windings) i.e. for example a 4500 running watts generator would be 2250running watts per plug.

You also CANNOT use the 230/240v socket at the same time as any of the 110/115v/120v sockets, as this winding is used to make the higher voltage. This is the case on all generators!!

Hope this helps!
