NorStar M7208 - How to remove global ringing?

First of all, I apologize for the wording on how this question is asked. We have a Norstar M7208 phone that rings for global rings (example: if you call any of our 32 lines, the phone will ring) and if you call the extension/direct number (for this single phone) it will ring with a double ring. I want to disable the global so it stops acting as a hub, and just as a satellite.

This is tech side of programming and not Admin, if you don't know config password or how to program then call a tech.
If you do know then:
First find out what line #, do F*0 then press the button and note the full number on the display.
i.e. Line 5 in programming is Line 005, 025 or 031 depending on software version.

Sets/LineAccess/LineAssignment/Show line ***/Change to Appear Only or Not Assigned.

  • Ryan Geoghagan Aug 08, 2012

Sets/LineAccess/LineAssignment/ShowLine -> Regardless if it is set to AppearOnly/Unassigned/RingOnly/Appear&Ring - the phone will still ring. I became discouraged and looked up the extention of the phone, within the extention if I set the ringer within and call the global number that is the ringer used - but if I call the extention, a different ringer is from a local phone, a different extention is used. Break down. 254 is the phone extention. 147 is the extention with the trunk line 1777 directed to it. Button1 Line1 on the set phone, extention 254, has 145:1777 bound. How do I go about removing the re-dirrection of line 145 to extention 254?

Is set relocation on?
If not then probably what has happened is that the new station port does not have ringing programming of the old port.
if you know how to do this go into riging programming of the set and activate it

SOURCE: Norstar M7208, it's direct line number is diverting to another ph

It could be a simple as the phone has call forwarding to another extension set up on it or the direct line could also be programmed on the other set. Does the screen on the non- ringing m7208 display "forward to:xxx" or does it display the current day and time?

Norstar meridian 7208 won't ring.

Does it ring when you move it to a known ringing port? Is it programmed to ring (Terminals & Sets) Appear and Ring? Do you have Automatic Set Relocation turned on so the extension number stays with the phone?

There are a lot of features to check for ringing, including the volume of the set.

Our office has a combination of Norstar M7310 and Norstar M7208 phones. One of our M7310 phones died today and I wanted to trade it out with a M7310 that was in my office. I followed how to turn off the...

Dial "F * 0" (Feature, star, zero), which is Button Inquiry, and press an intercom button to see the extension number of the telephone. If Set Relocation is set to "Yes", then the extension number & mailbox will follow the phone when it is moved. Move only two phones at a time, and wait until they completely "boot-up" before moving additional phones.
Hope this helps.

Are you using norstar voicemail system?

If you are and know how to get into the admin programming of it, then you go to the line programming and select the number of rings before the vmail system answers.

set the rings to "3", then the lines should ring 3 times on your phone, then on the 4th ring the vmail system will answer
