Olympus C-750 Trouble formatting card

I've inserted old card (that used to work) and brand new card and turned on camera. Card setup page comes up.I go to format and press ok. it says format, yes/no. click yes. Says caution erasing all then new screen appears- saying card error, unable to format. I never had a problem with this card before. I bought a new card and same thing happens. The orginal 16mb will still work. any ideas?

What you say Jeap is good. But before replacing the card, I would try cleaning the gold surface with a very little amount of denatured alcohol. Sometimes dirt on the surface will interfere with the contact.

If the new card is bigger than 512 mb, it won't work in a C-750. The camera has a size limit of 512 mb. Anything bigger will give you a "Card error" error screen when trying to format it.

I had to by a new memory card to my Olympus Camedia C 750. I just found out that the 1GB I bought, will not work. Is tere any way of make a partion to make the camera accept the card?

Is the card you bought compatible with your camera? Older cameras cannot work with newer versions of memory cards. SD, SDHC,SDXC etc. have different form factors and old model cameras are not compatible with newer versions.

If the problem is related to the card, you might like to re-format the card from a computer before inserting it in the camera and then format it again from the camera.

Check and verify that before you try other solutions.

Have purchased an olympus m+2gbpicture card and want to know if it will work in my olympus c-750 ultra zoom camedia camera?

Hello,
Check the compatibility of the card. If yes insert the card, turn camera on and see if the camera recognizes the card. One cannot say more because there are different memory card formats.
Hope it helps.

Format problems of Olympus 1Gb card with C-750UZ

The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is an M or H 512mb card. The 1gb card is not compatible. The firmware in the camera cannot support memory storage with that capacity. The camera came out before those cards did and there no plans to upgrade the camera to allow those types of cards to be supported.

I'm needing a driver for my FE-280

I went to Olymbus website to find the driver for the FE-280 Digital camera and it states, no software availble at this time.

They show the camera on the website and I know there is a driver for it, but they are not supplying the consumer with it. Bad choice for Olympus.

I have given you some information and links below:

http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/FE-280%20Instruction%20Manual.pdf

This is the manual for your camera.
Go page 45 at the very bottom. Using a New Card

The FE-280 does not recognize my memory card. What can I do?
First, refer to the xD-Picture Card™ Compatibility Chart to verify that the card is supported in your model. If the card is not supported, return it to the store where you purchased it.
The FE-280 may not recognize non-Olympus brand media or a card that has been formatted on another device, such as a card reader or personal computer. As a general rule, xD-Picture Card media should only be formatted in the camera. Card readers should only be used to copy files from the memory card to an external device.
You may be able to use the card if you format it in the camera.
Warning: Formatting a media card will delete all content on the card.

When I put an xD-Picture Card™ flash memory card into my camera and turn it on, I get a “Card Error” message. What can I do?
This message occurs when the camera is unable to recognize the memory card or when an attempt to format a card fails.
If you see this message after inserting a brand new card, refer to the xD-Picture Card Compatibility Chart to verify that the card is supported in your model. If the card is not supported, return it to the store where you purchased it.
If the card is supported, it may need to be cleaned. Wipe the gold contacts of the card with alcohol using a soft cloth or tissue. When the contacts are dry, insert the card and turn the camera on.
If the Card Error message still appears, remove the card and insert a different supported card into the camera. If the camera reads the second card, then the camera is working properly and the problem lies with the original card.
You may be able to use the card if you format it in the camera.
Warning: Formatting a media card will delete all content on the card.
If you receive this error message after a failed attempt to format the memory card, the card may be defective. For assistance, contact Olympus’ Customer Service and Repair Center using any of the following methods:

Trouble formatting card

Did you happen to write files to one of the cards from the computer, or delete files from the card through the computer before that happened? This problem has been known to happen in such cases. Remember to only *copy* files from the card to the computer using the card reader, and only delete files using the camera. Anyway, try turning off the camera, pulling and re-inserting the card. If it doesn't work - try it a few more times. If it still doesn't work and you've got nothing to lose, try deleting any files you may have written to the card using the computer, and then try again. But the fact that the new card didn't work as well might mean that it won't help. Good luck.
