It shut down okay but when I tried to turn it back on last night the power button doesn't respond. It usually turns blue when power is on. I checked my surge protected power bar and turned it off and on, I plugged directly into wall outlet, I tried a different power cord...........nothing. What could be wrong please?
More than likely your power supply got fried from a power surge during that storm anyway. You'd be surprised at how worthless most surge suppressors are these days.

unplug everything for a few hours and let it drain. then go into bios and turn off all power save settings.

Im not 100% sure about this but may i suggest you change the CMOS battery on the Motherboard, there is a chance that it is flat its a very common battery that you can purchase from your local store, but just change that and let me know what happens
