Sounds like you need a new belt underneath the machine. They are easy to change. Use a paper towel when you remove the old one, the black rubber will come off on your hands and get all over everything. If you can, take close up pictures of the beater bar when you take it off. It just pulls straight off. Remember which side goes where and what the little ears look like when you pull it off - slowly so you can see how they went in. Take the old belt to the store along with the make and model of your machine. Some belts are round, some flat and some longer than others. This will end any confusion:) When you put it back together, you may have to wiggle the beater bar to get it in properly. Be patient, they rarely go in the first time. Good luck.

Just got a dyson animal bagless upright. Put it together but the brushes are not turning..

Look for the clutch knob as per the picture. Turn it one click to the right. The brushes will only turn when the machine is reclined; not when it is stood up.

I have a model 605d ,the machine work fine except it will not sew! i look over the machine it look ok ! i am found out that top spool thread and the bottom bobbin thread are not coming together to sew!

You have to do the first stitch using the handwheel so that the top thread catches under the bobbin thread and then you can pull the top thread which will bring up the bobbin thread. put both threads to back of machine. Now you can sew.

Every time you re-thread you need to do this.

I opened my dc17 dyson to clean teh motor. trying

I'm not sure about all the switches used in the vacuum, but I recently took some pictures of the power button assembly. The buttons in the picture below are (from left-to-right): Circuit Breaker, Brush Switch, Power Switch

The next picture shows how the plastic buttons that operate the brush and power switches should go together:

And finally, this is how the power button assembly reattaches:

I took my Bissell Powersteamer Powerbrush Deep Cleaner apart and i don't know if I have the hoses connected correctly.

Here's a picture of the tubing on the PowerSteamer from an overhead view. I hope this helps you putting the machine back together. I know personally how challenging this repair can be, this picture really was my Bible when I was putting back together the machine for the first time. If you have a question about a particular tube, please feel free to add a comment to the repair page, and I'll be more then happy to answer any follow up question that you may have. If this was helpful to you, please be so kind and follow the Fixya model and rate the repair helpful by clicking the 4 thumbs up icons in the top right hand corner. This is greatly appreciated.

Here's the picture for you:

Lost suction from cleaning dyson roller brush

Hello,

This is actually a very common problem that we see for repair on Dyson Vacuums. Usually what happens is that the vacuum doesn't loose suction like most people think. You can test this by feeling the suction power on the hose. If you have suction coming from here, then most likely the machine isn't clogged.

What happens is that the bottom soleplate on the vacuum cleaner can easily be re-installed the incorrect way. If this happens the brushes on the vacuum cleaner can not even hit the carpet, which makes the vacuum feel like it's not picking up, but when the suction is tested from the hose it has plenty.

We see a lot of Dysons come in for repair with this problem. The bottom plate is not flush with the rest of the vacuum cleaner. Here's a picture of what an improperly installed bottom soleplate looks like:

974f88e.jpg
When the bottom plate is put back on the vacuum, you should make sure that the bottom plate (the purple colored part in the picture) is flush with the agitator housing tray (red part in the picture). If not, the brushes will not hit the carpeting, and the vacuum won't really pick up anything.

This is how a correctly installed bottom soleplate should look like:

This should be the first thing you should check on your vacuum cleaner as it's the easiest and most common solution. If this doesn't fix your Dyson, please just use the Clarification Request form, and let me know which exact Dyson model you have, and whether the vacuum has suction power from the hose, whether the brushes turn when set to the carpet setting, and how old the vacuum is. I'd be happy to try and further diagnosis the problem with you.

I hope that this was helpful to you. If it helped you, please be sure to rate the repair as helpful by clicking the thumbs up icons in the top right hand corner.

Thank you very much,

Chris J.

Cleaning solution will not come out when trigger squeezed. What could be the source of the problem.

1.make sure that the sol tank is in there correctly. 2. when putting the machine together, the upper handle assembly goes on but you have to screw it down, if it is screwed down, the only thing that is left is the pump assembly that the guide rod hits. the rod hits this button inside of the machine and sometimes this gets jamed or all together stops working. the cause for this is usually from putting the wrong sol in the machine. hope this helps

Have eureka 9734 replaced belt, put back together, brush rotates well but vacuum is not picking up anything, no suction.

It sounds like the machine is clogged. Check the port behind the belt and any and all hoses for obstructions and remove.

I have a Miele Red Star vacuum, model 314i. I bought a HEPA filter for it but am not sure how to install it.

Hi,

At GoVacuum we put together a General Miele Maintenance video together for Miele Owners. Although the video showcased in the video is not specifically your Red Star machine, the filter installation is going to be the same.

Check it out here:
