Model is a Sony KP-51WS500 rear projection tv.
The problem is numerous very fine horizontal blue lines veiwable when the background black.
The blue lines aren't perfectly horizontal, they curve a little bit.
The fine blue lines are only visible when the screen has an area of black on it, not visible when the screen is showing any other color.
Thank you in advance
Hello,
You need to adjust (actually bit decrease) G2 volts (calls Screen volts) of Blue gun.
If you are familiar with big TV repair and have electronics knowledge then let me know to guide you further.
thank you.
OK, that's great.
Please pull front speaker grill and find focus block, fixed at corner having 6 control knobs on it.
Find Blue Screen control knob there.
Put your TV in AV mode to get dark screen and just press Display button on remote to have AV display.
Now slightly rotate control knobs counter clock wise until thin lines (retrace) disappear. Job is done and put back speaker grill, press display button again to disappear screen display.

Thank You,
I do have some experience in electronics, build circuit boards as a hobby.
Is G2 a variable pot that can be adjusted?
And what is the voltage for that pot (or do you just decrease until the blue lines dissappear?)
if so ...with some assistance as to the location of the pot for the blue gun (G2) i'm sure I could adjust it and check the voltage with a multimeter.
I have the same problem. I can't pull out front grill. The grill does not move forward that easily. I can't find what is holding it. Are there any srews holding it?
