Toshiba Projection Picture discoloration

The fluid that is used to cool the face of the 3 tubes has become clouded and discolored. This fluid is serviceable. I wouldn't try it myself if you've never done it before. A TV shop can do the job.

I presume you unplugged set for a while and plugged it back to see if problem clears (allows set to reset).

If whatever picture you see looks 3d or colors skewed that is convergence problem.

Yes, did you check the group of identical 3.9 ohm blue resistors in front of the chips? If even one is open or discolored in the middle convergence will not adjust in some area.

probabally a dust spot on the mirror or the lcd mini panels inside the optical engine.
must be dissembeled to clean.
not for the faint of heart.

It sounds like you have a bad Blue Polarizer in the light path. I'm sorry but that is something you will have to contact a service center for. It's not something you'll be able to do yourself, I'm sorry, but that's the best advice I can give you.

It sounds like the TV's Convergence Circuit has failed.First, try
to reset TV by unplugging TV from A/C source, for 2 to 5 minutes. Then plug TV back into outlet. Also, try the Magic Focus button on front of TV.
Still no work? To fix yourself call 1-800-458-6053 and ask for KIT 10. This will provide you with all the parts you will need. These are soldered in parts, or call an Authorized Service Center and have them give you a written estimate b4 repairs are performed. Cost? between $450 to 650 depending on your location and Service Center. Good Luck, big IRISH.

usually you can see the resistors being a little discolored as they dont have color bands on them. If you dont notice any discoloration on those resistor you should be good to go. There are about 7 or 8 resistors right next to the ics they stand up off the boards easy to spot, just look them over real good.if you notice any discoloration let me know the code stamped on the resistor and I will give you the ratings of the resistors.

I would suggest to try to get this TV fix while still under warranty. Normally the manufacturers give one year.
In regards to the discoloration, there is not much you do but to let the Sony authorized repair center knows about it so they can fix it. Ask them if their work is guarantee as well for how long.
