I have a compaq presario cq50-104ca, it will not start up, the windows home vista premium starts by looping back to the safe mode options but will not allow any selection, what can I do?

When I start my computer Compaq Presario CQ50-104ca it goes into a loop. It goes to a screen with options to do safe mode, safe mode with internet, select an earlier date when the program was working successfully, etc. But when I select an option it just goes back to showing the options again...do you have a solution?

Thats the silly hp loop back deal (and has the F11 key active)
omg its old . 2008 but HP supports it. even on w7 (facts)
good luck with VISTA Microsoft shut down all support on VISTA, you do know that and what that means, right?
cq50-104ca if the PC will not boot, it resets over and over (reboots)
it just means the OS is dead, nothing more.
that means the HDD is bad, in some cases:

  • HDD bad, test it?
  • do the recovery? do startup file fixes?
  • do full recovery.
  • Upgrade to w7 like you should have done back jan2017?
  • ever seem you service book yet, its free, see F11 now.
  • read F11, in the book for full recovery
  • if the HDD is bad (or was) F11 too will be missing, gone!
  • if F11 is gone, then only new install disks work, fresh.
  • or from ISO to USB mem stick installed. if HDD is ok.
now the book you cant find. and was there all along, at real HP
why ask fixya and not HP forum?
the book is here. open it,press Ctrl+F(find) and find F11 and thar
she be, HP magical F11. (seen 2006 to NOW)

what you are describing is the blue screen of death, meaning theres a hardware or software problem, try to boot into safe mode and perform a system restore, if that doesn't work use your XP cd, let it load the drivers and the ask it to fix the existing XP installation, anything that you have saved in my documents should be safe and the problem should be solved. If the blue screen reappears then you have a hardware problem

SOURCE: audio driver not found

Hello sukhendu_gho ...

  • PROBLEM PLACEMENT: All Products > MONITORS > Troubleshooting > Generic problem for all Compaq MONITORS
  • "AUDIO driver not found"
  • "...here i have not found my AUDIO driver?"
Just so I'm absolutely clear:
  • You need AUDIO driver(s)?
  • Does your motherboard have on-board sound?
  • Do you have a seperate audio card? If so, what's the exact make/model/series?
The reason I ask is because the manufacturer (HP) of your Compaq Presario 7500 only offers Monitor, Modem, and ROM software/driver packages. Nothing for audio specifically or any composite/all-in-one packages [http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=&cc=us&lang=&product=94505].

Please post back with answers and/or clarification, and we can try again.

Vista boots just Black screen with cursor even in safe mode

Yes, this is a known issue with Vista. You need to back-up your data, format your hard drive and re-install Vista from the beginning.
There is really no use trying to repair it: it is damaged.
After you re-install Vista, do not forget to install service packs from microsoft.com.

Start Normally (black screen with options)keeps re-loading itself

If you can't get into windows normally or into safe mode to try to restore the system back to a date when it worked properly then you'll need to wipe out the hard drive and start the system from scratch.

Compaq notebook won't boot up

Hi

When you boot the computer back up go into Safe Mode and check to see if you can roll the computer back to the point before you installed the software.

If so this should work. If it works then run a virus scan, a defrag of the hard drive and cleans the temp files.

OR

You can do a diagnostic startup and uninstall Onecare. So once that it is uninstall ed it should be smooth sailing.

Here is a link for some startup / diagnostic software you could try after booting.

I hope this helps
