So, I tried to use back my good old Sony CMD z7 and i discovered that the red plastic that holds the SIM is lost. What should I do now? Any ideas how to get a SIM card in there and make it work? I tried to trick the phone with pieces of paper or something but I can't remember which way the card goes. Any ideas?

i you should try a software update, you can get this from www.sonyericsson.com/support. hope this helps

to retrieve your numbers you would need to follow these key strokes...
center, toggle down (1 time), center, toggle up (2 times), center, toggle down (5 times), center, toggle down (5 times), center (3 times)
then wait for quite some time...it takes a while to copy all of the contacts...I would say anywhere from 5 to 10 mins...
this should work to save your contacts.
To save your pictures (and any other data you might want to retrieve) you could buy Sony's data cable for the z525a. I haven't tried this but it should work since that is what the cable is for.
Its called a DCU-60 USB data cable, and is listed as being compatible with the z525a.

hello, hearing your story I can only say that your was not unlocked or can't be unlocked depends if for example was it an offer?
Or they did not have the unlocking program for the phone
