Is there a benefit to giving my dog rawhide treats?

Rawhide treats are not treats, they are total rubish.

They are basic for satisfying chewing urge, there is no nutritional value/ & at times hard for dog to pass them as they don't break down as quickly as dog food also can be a choking hazard. i have found rolled pig skin' sticks or pig ears are much better and helps with a shiny coat & fully digestible & dog's love em!

Only benefit you get from rawhide is keeping your dog entertained for a while. The Cons are too overwhelming. Most dogs are unable to digest rawhide correctly and gives them diarrhea. Very hard to clean up mess in house, not to mention picking up after your dog on your walks. No chicken bones either, as it seperates in tiny pieces ripping through your dogs intestines. T-Bone's are the best in my book. If your looking to keep your dog busy, checkout petspyshop.com. Do a google search on negative side effects on rawhide.

Don't feed your dog raw hide bones. Horns/antlers are a better choice

Rawhide does not get digested well and are not good for dogs. Go with a natural chew or pig ears

Yes, rawhide bones can help your dogs to get better oral health and can also help in removing the bad breathe. You can also provide them with some kind of natural products like - Bully Sticks, Himalayan dog chews and many more products are available in the market that can work as great treat for your dogs. You can also buy them from MyBullySticks.

Yes. Instinctively all dogs chew - instead of it being your shoes why not give your dog a rawhide bone! The act of chewing will also help to strengthen your dogs jaw, keep their teeth clean and their breath a little fresher.

Rawhide is not a good treat. It is hard for the dog to digest and can cause blockage. Nyla-bone and products like it are a better choice

Do I need to supervise my dog while he's chewing a rawhide treat?

I advise you to be around him while he's chewing a rawhide treat and take away small pieces in order to minimize the risk of him being choked by it.

I have heard of dangers about giving dogs rawhide. Can anyone suggest something with similar benefits and fewer dangers?

Meaty Bone dog treats are a great alternative for rawhide. These products clean your dogs teeth without the risks of rawhide treats.

Are there any risks associated with giving my dogs rawhide?

There are some risks, but they are very minimal. Some of these risks include: contamination, irritation to your dogs digestion, and possible choking. These risks should by no means be ignored; however I suggest weighing the risks and benefits first. I would recommend being around your dog while chewing rawhide to ensure his/her safety.

I heard rawhide treats are great for dogs, but what is it?

You heard right, rawhide treats are good for your dogs dental health. Rawhide comes from the inner layer of cow/horses hides. To make them more appealing, some rawhide treats contain chicken/beef/liver flavoring.
