I am running propane (8 years). My oven lights properly, but has a "jet engine" type of noise and stinks like burnt propane. I can probabaly fix or replace something - but where do I start?
That means that the flame is lighting at the orifice. that's where the burner sits on, pull out the broiler drawer, and stand back, turnd on the oven and take a look at that part of the orifice. you can pull down the pilot a bit lower, it can not be touching the holes of the burner, not that close, and it needs to be lower then the burner, that will stop the problem.

Hi I Have A GE XL44 That Is Running Very Hot I Want To Know How To Troubleshoot Because When I Was Cooking Plantains I Did Burned My Fingers Because Of The Oven That Is Running Too Hot
I just converted aXL 44 from natural gas to propane and I don't have a manual for it do I need to do anything for the oven part?
Also how do I light the pilot light or do I need to?
Greg
your going back to natural from LP??? of so tyhere is no new orifice , but hte "hood" on the end of the bake, needs to be adjusted out"loosened", LP the "hood" is secured snugged down,
Remove the burners and clean them with EASY OFF oven cleaner. The passages are likely plugged and this causes incomplete burning of the gas. If you do smell raw gas shut the gas to the stove off RIGHT AWAY and call the local gas supplier.
I needed parts for my GE XL44 propane converted stove. This site was very helpful. I found the part and there is online live help or toll free help. Go to: AppliancePartsPros.com
Hi I have a GE X44 gas stove. The 4 top burners work just fine, but the oven no longer turns on. I don't see the blue flame inside the oven. Is it safe to relight the pilot light?????
propane burns very dirty.you need to remove the burners and orfices and clean them good with oven cleaner.make sure their rinsed and dried well before installing, this should solve your problem.
Are the top burners working fine?
Has this been since new?
