Can not change the temp on my frigidaire air conditioner

thats normal its showing ambient when you lower it the number will change to the setting and then will go back to show what the ambient temp as the room gets cooler the temp number will go down and shut off at set temp

It means there is software error in microcontroller. You have to change the PCB inside the ac.

Auto is for fan meaning fan will only run when compressor starts and the tempature you want the space.

The problem here is the compressor.... it has failed and will not start. You can try to replace the capacitor and see if it will go but most likely the compressor is toast. I t will cost more to replace it then to buy a new unit.

Nothing less than low on freon...You've done good!

I bought window AC (5000 btu) that fit 17 in. at home depot. made by Zenith. Keep in mind of your room size.
