I have two brand new DirecTV HD DVRs with the same problem. I got both in December and have already had this happen twice on one of them and once on the other. It's SOOOO frustrating to pay good money for something like that and then find out it's a piece of ****.

Delete any programs that are not needed on the dvr. restart the reciever. if the problem continues, its the tuner and hard drive not working together. receiver may need to be replaced.

Prior to the recent installation of Direct TV I was with DISH. I switched to Direct when Dish attempted to charge me for a new full package cost because I wanted to re-activate a Dish receiver which I had...

After it is hooked up, it should have a white screen saying "searching for satellite signal." After fifteen or twenty minutes, it will go to a black screen saying the same thing in a blue box. Once you are there, you can prerss the LIST button on the remote and record and copy your selected shows. This is assuming you have a newer DVR. Model R15 or higher. thanks keep updated

Picture goes bad when playing Verizon Fios DVR or On Demand

I had issues when I set an SD override for the box, it would sometimes display as bad input when switching to HD content(as well as display all menus in SD even with HD mode in settings.) Turning that off in settings (also turned off "modes" which has no description) stopped it and gave me guide/menus in HD.

Monitor and recorded picture out of sync.

It sounds like the sync pulse is not being recorded properly. I don't see too many PAL decks here in the Us, so I'll have to research this a bit. One thing you can try though, is to play back a previously recorded betacam tape and report the results. We need to determine whether the problem is in the record or playback circuitry.

Thanks,
Dan
