I have a Visual Land 335 1GB MP3 player that my computer suddenly stopped recognizing. The player works fine, It charges, via USB port like it should. But, I've tried it on 3 different computers (XP and Vista) and it will not be recognized as a device. I've tried everything I can think of, including everything in other online forums. It's been a great player till now.

There is quite possibly a problem with the USB cable or the USB port on the computer, but try this shortcut force to force the computer to recognize the Mp3 player: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

guest - you must have Windows Vista - it's not compatible

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Wizard.

I had the same problem, all you have to do is first turn on the Mp3.Then go to settings. Then go down to USB mode. It will probably say, auto detect. But instead scroll down to MSC. If that doesn't work try MTP.

What i would recommend you to do is to uninstall the device and reinstall it back...to uninstall it...assuming that you are running windows xp...click on start, right click on my computer and go to properties..you should have your system properties open then click under hardware then device manager...look for the sansa device..it usually located under portable device..if its not showing there i would recommend you to look for under disk drives and see if its there..right click on the device and click on uninstall...after you unintall it unplug your device from the computer....Then follow this link below to download the porting kit...http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A2E73160-E862-4F19-BB26-C0CAFE798955&displaylang=en .Then check the mode of yuor device to make sure it sunder MTP not msc...To check the mode go under menu, settings and choose usb mode...After you check the mode open up your windows media player click on tools, options and click under privacy...clear the history and caches...after you finish you can plug the device on the back of the computer not the front then windows should recongnize it and it should work properly..if that doesnt solve the problems upgrade your windows media player to 11 even though you have done that already..and try to reconnect your device..make sure you have it on the back of your computer...
Should you have any questions..let me know..
P.S.Please rate accordingly...
Thank You

I was mistaken, it is a 512 MB player. What happen, was I had it plugged in charging. I was in my music files and wanted add a file, but rather than open the MP3 players folder for music files, I sent the MP3 files to "G:\ Mass Storage Device". I instantly knew what I had done was wrong, that it would have to but in the proper folder to play, but when I went to open the "G:\" dive, it was not there anymore. Now, neither old XP, NEW XP or Vista, will open it. There must be some was to force a computer to open the drive. Help !
