Tv sensor doesn't work

The TV sensors doesn't work and I need to know how to fix the problem. I know that it's not the remote control that is broken but it's the sensor light. I don't see the sensor light on the TV flashing whenever I use the remote. So my remote is useless.

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

SOURCE: the tv sensor is not working on my 42" lg lcd hdtv

Believe it or not...THIS WORKS!!!!

Look on the back of your set for an external remote jack. It should be the same size as a small headphone jack. If it has one, use a spare headphone plug or your headphones, and plug them in and out about 50 times. This will clean the tarnished contacts and make your remote sensor start working. Your remote sensor goes through a switch on this jack.

SOURCE: LG LCD TV won't respond to remote controllers

sparrow00, your fix worked for me, and I think I know why. The 1/8" remote input jack on the back of the TV has electrical contacts inside that are probably there to sense the presence of a plug-in remote. When they detect the insertion of this plug they disable the front panel IR (infrared) receiver and the TV only responds to this plugged-in remote and the buttons on the TV itself. After some period of time these contacts get corroded and the circuit is no longer completed between them. The TV now thinks an external remote is plugged in, and it ignores its own front panel IR receiver.

When you plug a 1/8" plug into this remote socket on the back of the TV it wipes away the corrosion. When you remove the plug the internal contacts conduct properly again and the TV responds to its front panel IR receiver. For best results you should plug a 1/8" headphone plug into this remote jack and twist it a few times, then pull it out and repeat several times. Repeat every frew months or whenever the TV acts up.
Thanks for your solution!

SOURCE: I have a tv (lg 32LG30) but the remote control is

First, check your batteries. Next, try using a small miniphone plug such as headphone and plug it into the remote sensor jack on the back, do that a couple of times to clean the contact switch inside, see if that will work first, if not, then you may have IR receiver board problem.

SOURCE: Remote sensor on TV (LG 42PM1MA) seems to be broken.

Have the technician check for 5 volts on the remote IR Sensor if present the the Remote sensor has failed. Have him replace it to factory Spec's. No need to replace entire main board when the sensor is no more 5 dollars....

The remote control sensor on the TV has stopped working

Hi,

If new batteries did not fix the problem, then it means the problem is either from the remote or the TV.

Remote: Check the remote battery terminal, see if its not rust. Also, disassemble the remote, can check the connection between the terminal and the remote board, see if there is no disconnection of any kind.

If after checking and all seems well, then it means the remote is defective. To confirm, borrow a remote, test it with the TV. If it works, then it means you need to replace your remote. But if the remote you borrowed does not work, then it means the problem is from the TV and not the remote.

TV: There is a sensor in the TV that communicates with the remote. If this sensor is defective, the remote won't communicate with the TV.

The TV sensor might have loosed contact from inside of the TV or it maybe defective and need to be replaced.

So do the above troubleshooting and let me know if the problem is from the TV or remote. If problem is from the remote, you need to do a replacement. But if otherwise, let me knows as well.

Regards.

T.V. remote sensor not working

Hello
If you are sure that the fault is with the remote sensor of your TV, replace it with a new one. The remote sensor can be located just behind the remote sensor window at the front panel of the TV. You nave to open the TV to access it. It is a three solder terminal component. It will look somewhat like this, having brownish black in colour. This component can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shopw at your town; very cheap to buy too. OK

It doesn't work

Hi,

is this a remote to TV or what? I am assuming it's a remote to a TV. If it is not for a TV, let me know, although, the solution is similar to any unit that uses remote control.

There are three possible causes for this problem;

1. Batteries may be dead inside the remote.
2. Remote might be defctive.
3. TV remote sensor/infrared might be defective.

Battries; Simply insert new batteries into the remote and try again. If changing batterises doesn't help, problem as to be from the Remote or TV's infrared.

Remote: Check the remote battery terminal, see if its not rust. Also, disassemble the remote, can check the connection between the terminal and the remote board, see if there is no disconnection of any kind.
