I had a 4 moths old MM17DE-B ASUS LCD monitor at the first look it works fine but lately after 1 month i found a wave like the water blown by the wind with lines...something like that while im playing counterstrike. But I just never mind the maybe it is just when I am playing CS but unfortunately the problem become worst, the thin lines, running upward slanting and so on repeating all over again even in my desktop..so I have replaced my video card into new and it look so fine..I never seen any lines at all.....so I concluded it...that the first videocard I had was some kind of damage. But, lately this week..the problem occurs again when I am playing counter strike even in version 1.5 and 1.6. I actually tried a lot of updates of drives, bios, etc..and check all possible reasons...but the problem is intermittent right now...sometimes its there...and sometimes its not. I am going crazy with this..pls people help ang give me ur best suggestions.
The interference may be another electrical item, for example a tv or speakers, turn off anything close to the monitor and check that there are no bent pins in the pc to monitor VGA cable and that it is not interfering with any electrical cables to see if the problem is illiminated.
I have been dealing with this same problem for a month...I just now unplugged my speakers completely from my computer, and the problem disappeared. Thank you, thank you, thank you, this has been driving me crazy....I guess I'll buy some new speakers.
I'm having the same problem. It's odd as I had an Acer AL2216W hooked up to a custom build PC (Intel DG965OT with onboard video) and after a switched to a Toshiba Tekbright 22", I started seeing these wavy lines. However, when I hook up my old Gateway 450ROG to the Toshiba monitor, the lines go away.
My guess is that it is a video card to monitor issue (at the driver level or a hardware minor incompatibility). Eventually, I'll upgrade the video card to see if this eliminates the problem. Currently, it's not severe but if it worsens, I'll test that hypothesis.
I had the same problem and went to the monitor settings and changed the refresh rate from 60Hz to 75H. The lines disappeared!
When i had vertical bright waves in my monitor, i found that it was the power pack to my laptop that was causing the waves. after i unplugged it the waves went away. I tested this several times to confirm it was not a coincidence.
Power packs may have a strong EMF as they are generally small transformers.
Actually those wavey lines can also be caused by a noisy AC Plug...try unplugging your monitor from the plug and try the plug below it, or if your using a powersurge, try putting the powersurge bar into another socket nearby and see if you get the same results. The other solution is if you're good with electricty and know how to repair noisy outlets then you can solve the problem. Or be daring and find a tutorial online lol
It's the same problem I have in my new purchased second hand unit theres a wavy lines showing running all around vertically and I found out it's not an interference by any electrical devices but a hardware failure...

I actually had an altec lansing w/ besides the LCD monitor but left and right satellite speakers but its said to the instructions manual of the speaker, it is okay to place the satellite speakers nearby the LCD monitor because its magnetic shielded only the subwoofer is not recommended to place near to monitor.
Is it my LCD monitor Damage? what if i never place anything on the top of the table only the monitor alone..what if the problem is there again?
I actually try to touch the back of the LCD monitor when the problem is there....and it seems sometimes its gone...it cannot easily be seen in one time only you have closely look it to see it.
Help me..I want to know wheres the problem going on...pls help.......Thanks again...

wow, that's weird.... just had the same problem and moved the monitor and they went away.... for sure it's a power issue
