Check to be sure the printwheel is installed properly, look for any keys that may be stuck down, put a little WD40 on the shaft that the printer slides on.

The typewriter didn't get to its home position...Make sure the cover is down..,nothing blocking the carriage from moving..check withe the power off...and nothing cought in the printwheel area.
