HP PSC 1510 All-In-One InkJet Printer Logo
Posted on Apr 15, 2017

I have purchased an HP P1505 printer and a 2101nw wireless printserver to use at home on Vista machines. I followed the installation instructions implicitly several times and did it several more with HP Phone help line but cannot get a print out from the setup. Lights will flash an error code on the printer panel but soon stops and returns to ready mode. Printserver is detected and on line, printer was detected during the install and is listed by the HP Connect software. Where is it going wrong any suggestions. HP seemed unable to assist.Printer installs and works fine via USB on same computer by the way.

SOURCE: Cannot print with wirelessly networked printer

hi,

if printing from 2 other computer works fine, will i think its not an issue of IP address which changes somehow. but anyways, try to check if you still have other printer drivers under "PRINTERS" (see control panel). it should say HP Photosmart c6100 series. If you also have there a printer icon that says HP Photosmart c6100 series Copy1, try using it (right click on that icon and choose Set as Default Printer). If you only have HP Photosmart c6100 series under PRINTERS, try to right click, then choose properties. When Properties box is open, click on PORTS tab. then click on configure ports below. Try to type in the IP address of the printer under "Printer Name or Host name or IP address". make sure that you already printed network configuration page to get the exact ip address of the printer, Dont know how to print? do this.

PRINTING NETWORK CONFIGURATION PAGE
1. press setup, then scroll down and look for Network.
2. press okay on network, it will give you the first option "VIew network settings".
3. press okay on it, and it will give you the first option "Print network configuration page."
4. choose that and press okay. it will print the network config page. from this document, you will be able to see the IP address of the printer.

Please let me know if the issue is still not resolve so that i can go ahead and give you another possible solution.

Thank you so much.

SOURCE: Photosmart 2575 printer is offline - won't print

In Vista make sure you are logged in as a administrator whenever you make any changes.

And if not to bring the printer online you will have to right click on the printer icon and right click on Run as administrator> and then try bringing the printer online and checdk if it works.

And you can delete the Microsoft XPS Document writer it is a default printer icon installed if in case you did not have a printer installed you can store them to print later.
Now that you already have a printer you can delete the Microsoft XPS Document writer.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Fatal Error while install software for HP C8180 printer, Vistax64

Normal 0 Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Trying to install HP 2101nw wirelss print server but get message can't find the print server on the wirless network form this machine. I am trying to set this up stand alone , not via a router

The server maybe enabled but you need to navigate on the printer and select a wireless network you want to connect to (just like you would when you connect a computer to a wireless netowrk). Once the printer is connected to the wireless network. try it again

How to connect hp all in one via WLAN?

One of the easiest ways to connect a printer via WLAN is to get a Wireless G Print Server. This print server will be connected via the USB cable of the printer and it communicates with your wireless router that is probably already connecting all your pc's or laptops. The installation may be a bit tricky but it just calls for some patience and make sure you follow the instructions carefully.
I would recommend a Linksys Wireless G PrintServer. It is cheap and quite dependable.
Hope this helps...

How can I connect wireless G print server to a 65bits windows vista without a problem, it just works for WIN XP

Hi, it appears that many are having problems with the WPS54G Print Server. I too have always found it hard to get pc to connect to it. My latest problem was with a Win 7, 64bit pc.

Setting up a printer with a print server is a two part configuration. First you need to configure the print server and then add a printer in your OS.

The following instructions are for a linksys wireless router and the linksys wirless print server model # WPS54G.

To set up the print server correctly go to this link.....http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&login=1&app=search&vw=1&articleid=4142&donelr=1

Following is the instructions from the above link:
Title: Connecting the PrintServer Wirelessly to a Wireless Router Article ID: 4142 Before configuring the wireless settings of the PrintServer, make sure to know the following settings on your linksys router: SSID, and wireless security. To check the wireless settings on the linksys router, click here.
Configuring the Wireless Settings on the PrintServer
The wireless settings of the PrintServer can be configured using its web-based utility. Make sure the PrintServer is set to a static IP on the network.

Record the Print Servers IP address you will need it later.

NOTE: Make sure the PrintServer is already working when hardwired to the linksys router before attempting to use it wirelessly on your network.
Step 1:
Access the PrintServer’s web-based setup page. Open a web-browser such as Internet Explorer.
NOTE: If you're using Mac, use Safari to access the PrintServer's web-based setup page.
Step 2:
Go to the address bar and enter the IP address you've assigned to the PrintServer.
NOTE: To assign the PrintServer a static IP address, click here.
Step 3:
When the PrintServer setup page appears, click Wireless.
Step 4:
Enter the same SSID you have on the linksys router. Make sure the Network Type is set to Infrastructure then click Save to apply your changes.
Step 5:
Click Security and look under the Security Mode field. Select the type of wireless security your router is currently using then enter the corresponding security keys.
Step 6:
Click Save to apply the settings then close the PrintServer setup page.
Step 7:
Unplug the Ethernet cable connecting the PrintServer to the linksys router. Power it off for 30 seconds then power it on.
Step 8:
Make sure the Wireless LED on the PrintServer is lit and the Ethernet LED is off to indicate that the PrintServer is in wireless mode then try to print wirelessly.

Stop if you can print at this point. If not continue. The following instructions are for Windows 7, 64 bit OS.

Once the above steps are completed open windows file explore. Click Network and you should see a "print server" listed. Click on PRINT SERVER and you will see a network icon labeled p1.

You should now be able to add a printer.

In win 7 open the add printer and click "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer", and click next. A searching for printer window pops up. It will list any network printers or print servers it see's on your network. You should see a listing titled "p1 on Print Server".

At this point you need to click "The printer that I want isn't listed. This is just below the "Select a printer" box.

Next a "Find a printer by nane or TCP/IP address" window opens. Select "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname. Click next.

Another window pops up which ask for a printer host name or IP address. Enter the IP address of your print server (the one you recorded when setting up your print server), and click next.

The next windows states the device is of unknown type. Under Device Type, make sure Standard is checked. Out to the right is a down arrow, click it and you should see many different devices displayed. Scroll until you find "Hewlet Packard Jet Direct", click on it to select it and click next.

Finally a "Install the printer Driver" window should open. Select your printer and follwing the instructions. If your printer is not listed you can click "Window Update" which will look for new printer divers. Once the printer driver is installed you should be able to print.

As you can see this in not a simple printer install. Good luck!

Upgrade failure

The software that came with the WPS54G model is not (yet)compatible with Vista systems. This model is not listed on the Vista-ready devices from Linksys' website (www.linksys.com/vista). The behavior more likely a result of a software incompatibility.

For PrintServer network setup, you may still use the CD on a non-Vista system (XP, Win2000 or lower). Or, by installing it manually by accessing it's web interface.

To make your Vista working with the printserver WITHOUT the use of the PrintServer CD, do the ff:
1. Make sure PrintServer is configured on the network with the same wireless settings of your router and with a manually assigned IP address which is in range of the router's IP segment.
2. Make sure that computer can print locally to the printer (e.g. via USB connection to the printer).
3. When computer can surf the net and connected to the router's network (wired or wireless), follow the steps from this article and make sure Printer is showing up as Online.

Goodluck!
