Hello, If you can't get it to work, try to do a factory reset.
Turn the unit off, then Hold the PRINT and ESC key down and then Press the power button. KEEP HOLDING THE Print and Esc key down for 2 seconds and then release both of them. You should see a message in the display INT?, Press SET to Reset your printer, or Esc to cancel.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes
Mac =)

the oil life message will continue to show until it is reset. With key off, hold the trip odometer reset button down. now, while still holding it down turn the key to on but don't start. Count to 20. The oil life message should be out and reset.

the code is with the vin number that came with the car the radio came in - the reason u don't know the code is because 1 - u just never copied it down or 2 - the radio came from another car.
1 - try calling the local dealer with ur vin number - - then also ask for any recalls etc -- 2 ask the local radio installer company like best buy - etc - - - if they can get the numbers for u
My neighbor just had this problem so I delved into it and fixed it.
You will need another working radio and the cloning cable.
DO NOT GO BUY ONE FOR 23 BUCKS PLUS SHIPPING!!!!!!!
This cable is nothing more than the same one you use to pipe your MP3 player into a car's AUX input. You either have one or know someone who does that you can borrow. If not go buy one from Sears ,Best Buy or any decent truck stop should have them for about ten bucks.
Turn both radios off. Now with the 3.5 mm cable plugged in to both radios hold down the up and down arrow buttons and turn them on. They should say "clone". Now press the" ENT" on the good radio, This will send the data over to the "bad" radio. Now turn them both off, remove the cloning cable and turn them back on. Both should be working now. \WARNING if your battery is in bad shape it can cause the problem to come back. Either deep six the battery or hit the battery for a few seconds with your car battery charger to shock the cells. Some times this can extend the battery's life.
