How do i redirect the boot manager on a presario cq 56-------when i start up asks me do i want to start windows normally. then tells me boot mgr is missing.----how do i fix this
Its all depends on your bios version but basically you need to press F12 or F2 When it starts up. Its the key to access your boot / configuration manager. you can choose your first booting device from the boot menu.

ok this did not help- now when i turn it on, it ask to start normally or repair--when i click start normal it says boot mgr is missing to then insert windows installation disc. i insert the disc, hit enter and it looks like its going through the motions of booting but brings me back to start normal or repair---the boot mgr is missing
i can help you if you can provide me more info. does it automatic shuts down when window installation starts? what windows version are u trying to install?

First check and see if its muted there is a tray icon to your right hand side by the clock on you windows operating system. Make sure its not mute by clicking on it (right mouse click) then go to playback devices.
Make sure there is no mute button pressed anywhere on the system for example some HP's have a mute button on the keyboard area.

I see you have a SIM that you want to use on your compaq system, I checked in you system specs online and it does not show that it has a 3g modem on it on the issue.

open f10 go to diagnostics 10008 bios code means the hard drive is fried new one for cq 60 160gb hard drive 90 dollars but might as well upgrade 500gb only 115 i would think the cq 56 should be about the same price

thanks for your help---no its does not shut down at all..it just goes back to the start normally or repair screen. i have gone into the BIOS to change the boot from location but still no success. version=windows 7 pre-loaded-
