My hcl laptops sound dosent work

what u have to do is go to control panel and then go to hardware and sound. then u have to click play CD and other median automaticilly and then u have to clid DVD drive and it will then work. then exit out of control panel and go to computer click DVD player, put the DVD inside ur DVD drive. then double click the DVD icon and it should play

The first thing to try is the following:
In XP:

• From Start Menu
  
• Open Control Panel
• Choose Classic View
  
• Double click on System
• Click on Hardware tab
• Click on Device Manager
• Open the Sound, Video and Game Controllers by clicking on it
• Right click on your sound card, choose Uninstall
• Now go to the Actions menu and choose Scan for new hardware
• Windows will scan through your computer, discover the audio adapter and reinstall its drivers

In Vista/7:

• From Start menu
• Choose Control Panel
• Choose Classic View or Large Icons in 7
• Double click on Device Manager
• Open the Sound, Video and Game Controllers by clicking on it
• Right click on your sound card, choose Uninstall
• Now go to the Actions menu and choose Scan for new hardware
• Windows will scan through your computer, discover the audio adapter and reinstall its drivers

If these don't resolve your problem, you need to download a new audio driver from your manufacturer's website.

Go to Control Panel >> Sound >> Play back tab >> Right click on Speaker and set it default.

Connect Headset >> Play any music >> As soon as the music started, remove the headset with a slight ****.

Restart Audio services if issue is same and then update the audio driver.

Start search >> services.msc >> right pane, double click on Windows Audio >> Stop >> Start >> Startup Type: Automatic.

Update the drivers

1- Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.

2- Click the Hardware tab.

3- Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.

4- Double-click the sound card, and then click the Driver tab.

5- Click Update Driver.

6- Follow the Hardware Update Wizard to update the sound card driver.

Have you checked the volume control settings either in Control Panel or in the system tray (if it's showing?

Launch Control Panel and double click on the Sounds and Audio Device icon. Make sure "Mute All" isn't checked and that the volume is turned up.

Have you tried using the Control Panel to see if something got changed? Navigate to the Control Panel by clicking Start, Settings, Control Panel. Then double click on the Sounds and Audio devices icon. Make sure the Mute box is unchecked and the volume is turned up.

there is no sound play in m laptop
i have nt installed any driver ,kindl help me as per model n.o to install sound in laptop

Unplug speaker connection. Go to Control Panel, double-click on "Sounds and Audio Devices" and on "Volume" tab make sure "mute" is not checked and that volume is sufficiently up there. If thats ok select "Sounds" tab and go to "Program events", select any Windows sounds and check to see if you can hear the sound by clicking on the arrow next to it. If you can hear sound its ok so then check your speakers connection to correct sound output jack and that external speaker is powered on.

I had this problem too. My built in mic wasnt working, but i went to the list of programs (Classic view of the start menu) and under the program folder TOSHIBA > Speech System it'll have a choice "Configure Microphone." After I went through that, it worked fine. Make sure you restart your webcam software though after you've done that if you had it open like me. Hope this works!
