Fisher and Paykel GW512 wont complete spin step.

Hi - have a Fisher and Paykel - GW512 top load washing machine. Recently the machine will not advance through the spin step. Machine stops during spin step, before spinning and beeps once per second when it trips. At this stage the following LED lights are displayed in the wash sequence from left to right; orange (lit), yellow (lit), yellow (lit), unlit, unlit, yellow (lit), unlit, orange (lit), unlit. At no stage before the machine trips does the load lock indicator come on. When I put the machine in diagnostics mode the same sequence of lights are lit, when the spin speed button is adjusted so hold and slow are lit. Can someone please interpret this light sequence, is it worth exchanging the control card and how hard is it to do if that is the solution ?

Have just got the service manual, appears to be a phase 6 lid open circuit. It refers to a failure of the harness or lid lock itself, then a tertiary cause of a failure in the control module. Any suggestions or advice on how to investigate these causes. I did a lid switch and out of balance lever switch test. The out of balance switched worked but i couldn't get the lid switch to work. I figure this is important.....can someone offer some advice on what to do next ?

Hi there
That fault is the pump blocked error (no change in water level).
i have a quick and easy way to solve this problem.

first turn the machine off then tilt the machine back and lean it on something(a chair or wall), look underneath, in the top right hand corner of the plastic outer boul you will see a small pump motor it has a fan on it spin this fan and if it is hard to turn that means there is somthing stuck in the drain pump keep turning the fan and try to free whatever is stuck in the pump, then try the machine on spin again all goin well the object in the pump should come out with the drain water(doing this will not harm the machine) if the object is still stuck you will need to get the water out of the machine (bailing or siphioning will work) and tilt the machine back again and take the wires off the pump and there should be a white tab on the boul holding the pump on pull this tab and twist the pump anticlockwise about a quarter turn(you will need a few towels or a boul or bucket to catch the water) and it should come off exposing the blockage.
Hope this solves your Problem.

It sounds like your machine has been programmed to automatically run through the various cycles continuously. Most likely in error.

We had the same problem with our washing machine being full of water and beeping during the rinse cycle. The problem is that the filter, which is located under the washing machine, is plugged with something. Ours was plugged with a cotton swab. You have to tip the washing machine up and remove the filter and unplug it. The filter is in the center of the bottom of the machine. It twists off. I had to get the cotton swab out of inside the machine through this opening.
This machine plugs up a lot - I've never experience this with any other washing machine. Good Luck!

There is an issue with your drainage area. Best to remove the pump and check for the obstruction in the line or at the impellar.(If the water is not completely drained, the pressure switch wont send a low level to the timer to allow a spin).

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question!!!!

My fisher & paykel gets stuck between wash and rinse, and will not drain water. It beeps and will not advance to the next cycle.

Hi just read your posting. Now my manual says the problem with your machine is the motor controller. Please try advancing it to spin and see if it drains. When you say it is the 1st and 4th lights are they the 1st wash light and 4th wash light? Please reply so I can make 100% sure it is the motor controller as they are expensive.

It wont complete cycle and empty the water just hums for a while and then turns its self off

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

The rinse and spin cycles never end

I have seen this often on another brand. Once it starts malfunctioning on the rince/spin cycle, the boars needs replacement.

Fisher Paykel washing machine model # GWL15 drips

Hi Dale..
It sounds like you have a leaky inlet valve assembly. The part number is 421029P and is easy to replace. You can get one here:
