Question about Lowrance Hds 5 Hds5 Fishfinder gps Chart Plotter
I would like to know if the Lowrance HDS-5 chartploter will chart a course on water if I set up 2 waypoints or more or will it just show a strait line between the 2 waypoints. I have been able to set up waypoints but it just shows a straight line between them and does not take into account land masses or shallow water. I just had it installed and am trying to figure out how to use it. Thanks
Hi, a waypoint is used to mark a point of interest for location purposes only whether it be for fish, hazards or a boat ramp etc. it is not intended to replace common sense. Your navionics card if purchased will show land masses, shallow waters, channel markers and known hazards. Regards Phil.

You need to purchase a EP 60 fuel flow meter. Once you have it installed in your boat, you need to monitor it. You set it up under NMEA DEVICES on your setup menu,

Had the same issue with another brand. Turned out the transducer cable was picking up noise from other cables (power, trolling mtr. etc). Try moving the transducer cable away from any other cables. I put the cable in a 1/4 " plastic housing up to the point where it was above deck and it stopped all the strange stuff. Not sure about the temp issue??

As long as the connection is the same.....maybe. The difference will be the angle of beam from boat to bottom. May not cover the same area...or you could loose zoom etc. something will be different.

SOURCE: How does my Lowrance HDS-5
To connect a LRA 2400 to a Lowrance HDS-5 sounder/chartplotter, you can run an ethernet RJ45 cable from your Radar Processing box to the HDS-5 unit. You will need an adaptor cable for the RJ 45 cable to hook into the HDS-5 head unit. This is part no 000-0127-56.
As for the different transducer pinouts, I am not sure what transducer you have now so I cannot say if there is any kind of converter plug available, however, the HDS-5 units do seem to run best using the transducers that are made for them. Your best option may be to buy the transducer that is made for them, and this will directly connect to the display unit.
Hope that helps!
