After heavy rain passanger foot well fills with water

  • Anonymous Dec 12, 2008

I had the same problem a while back. The solution was a new cowl which was not cheap (can't remember for sure but I think it was over $500)

Lift the bonnet and remove the plastic trim below the windscreen (passenger side) this covers the pollen filter check for distortion this will be the problem. replace the pollen filter it will be damp.if the trimis not too distorted refit or buy new. The trim acts as a rain water gutter and has been fitted incorectley, have you recently had a service ?

Lots of rain water leaking into front passenger foot rest.

Are you certain it is rain water? It could be condensation from the A/C coil that fails to drain out of the drain pan, or possibly coolant from a leaking heater core. If you are certain it is rain water, depending upon the age of the vehicle, and possibly some other things, here are the possible options:

  1. Leaking door gasket.
  2. Leaking windshield seal due to rust
  3. Leaking windshield seal due to improper installation
  4. Leaking windshield seal due to acoustic (sound) over pressure (if you have extreme sound system with heavy bass)
  5. If you have a sunroof, if the drain hose comes down the passenger side door column, it could be leaking into the passenger compartment rather than drain through the floor pan.

How to stop rain soaking the rear offside floorwell

Hi. The obvious answer would be to keep it out the rain. LOL. You should check the drains for the area that the wipers are in, often these are blocked causing the area to fill with water and thus entering the passanger compartment.

Why is the drivers foot well filling with water on my 2009 volvo XC60 ?

Try cleaning out the small holes between your rocker panels and the sub-structure. They can be barely perceptible, but if you look carefully under the car, they are actually little channels that direct the water flow out of the car that leaks on during heavy rains. Use a coat hanger or other wire to re-open them and let the water out. If not, the floor will continue to get wet until the rockers rust out. Other causes may be seal leaks behind the glass, or trunk seal leaks especially in sedans.

Why is there water on passanger floor after a heavy rain?

Check for leafs that are blocking drain holes on both ends . Air inlet cowl in front of wind shield. This blockage would cause water to back up and enter the Hvac air inlet.

MY 2006 HHR HAS A WET PASSENGER SIDE LEAK ONLY IN HEAVY RAIN

Check all weep holes for clogs below the windshield, it sounds like it may be coming from the fresh air intake. During the heavy rain, it will fill up with water if the weep holes are clogged.

Water filling the back passenger side foot well after heavy rain...........the pollen filter was cleaned and does not seem to be the problem..........when shop vacking the well out........I noticed the...

the spacer bar holding the passanger seat in place is cracked/rusting? If so you will need to get the section cut out and a new plate fabricated to fit and welded in. Check the door seals are intact as well, the water might be coming in there down to the lowest point.

Water in a toyota corolla

The most common place for it to come in when its raining is in from the Rear wheel (the welded seam is split) or around the top and running around inside under side of seat. Or if it comes in when stationary then it the door rubber is not tight enough.

Water fills up my floorboard when it rains. I

"weep holes" are normally on the bottom edge of the door, and will sometimes get pluged up with dirt. these can easily be cleaned out with a toothpick or ice pick. i doubt that this is your problem though. I am thinking that the drian hole to your heater box may be pluged. I suspect that it is your passanger side that fills up. The drain for this is normally found on the fire wall on the passanger side. You can clean this out by running a wire up the hole or tube and try to get the gunk out- be carefull that you don't go wild doing this as you can run the wire up to far and to hard and poke a hole in your heater core. If this is not the case- take a good look at your door seal and make sure that you dont have any gaps that would allow water in.
