I can not log on after putting the correct pass-word in. it says the user profile service failed the log on. why? What can I do?

Are there more accounts in this computer? Try to log with another one. If not you must reset your password try with nt offline password reset http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/ you must boot from a cd or usb and follow the instructions in this page but first try to make a backup of your important data, you can use a cd with ubuntu or other livecd OS to copy all you need to an external usb disk. All this will work easily if don't have encrypted your system.

I have a compaq Presario CQ57 laptop and cannot get the up/down etc arrows to work. Don't have a numbers lock key so I don't know how to get them to work again.

Here are some options:
1) Use an external number pad
2) Use an external keyboard
3) Replace the keyboard (a small Phillips screwdriver and a flat head are all that are needed.)

How fix black screen on Compaq Presario CQ57-229WM Notebook computer

Please test it with an external monitor. If your laptop works good with an external monitor, then you can replace your laptop's screen. You can look for it on eBay.com (please use "CQ57-229WM screen"). Later, you can download the laptop's service manual, so you will know how to replace the screen.

Mouse stopped working on Compaq Presario CQ57

The Touch pads the Mouse Pointer uses is pressure sensitive and sometimes without warning WILL fail to work I own a CQ50 And Have a On Off Option for the mouse pad Yours does not Apparently it Is a bad sensor If you have a warranty send it in If not best suggestion for you is buy a USB mouse and use it Otherwise trying to have it replaced without a warranty can be costly.
