The Touch pads the Mouse Pointer uses is pressure sensitive and sometimes without warning WILL fail to work I own a CQ50 And Have a On Off Option for the mouse pad Yours does not Apparently it Is a bad sensor If you have a warranty send it in If not best suggestion for you is buy a USB mouse and use it Otherwise trying to have it replaced without a warranty can be costly.
