1 year old Amana AFD2535DES French Door Refrigerator stopped cooling in Refrigerator section, although lights still work, and freezer still works. Started in last 12 -24 hours. Ice maker fine. Cold water dispenser not working. We can hear the fan working. No dust clogging compressor. Any ideas?
There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.
Amana refrig model # afd2535due. Evaporator coil freezes over which cause top refrig air to stop circulaton and compartment temp get warm. Act like it not defrosting?
In my case, the fan is running. I turned off power for more than 3 hours today. However, when I turned power on, the same problem - the refrigerator is not cooling but the fan is operating. I removed the lower panel on the top shelf. it is open. Any ideas?

Solution arrived.
The whirring sound we heard was the compressor, not the fan. The variable speed fan was kaput - 1 year and 2 weeks after our purchase = no warranty. New fan, new thermostat, and we are back in business. Fan should not have failed, but repairman says they use planned obsolescence parts.
JENN AIR - PROBLEM IS REF NOT COOLING, FREEZER IS OK ,ICE MAKER IS OK. FAN IN LOWER BACK IS NOT RUNNING.
