My cd burner does not recognize a blank disk to burn. It keeps asking me to insert a blank disk even though I had just put a new blank disc in.

Are you putting the type of CD's it accepts?

Many burners will only accept specific disk types, such as most won't accept RW. That could be the possible issue in this case, what kind of burner are you using? If you post the model I could tell you what kind of disks it accepts.

Hello.

Download and burn to CD. Copy/paste this link:
http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/cd080802.zip

Download this file and burn it to CD.

Put into drive and turn on PC. Boot from your CD.

Follow instructions, choose the correct USER and BLANK out the password.

Make sure you say OK to write the data, and reboot.

The Administrator logon password will now be blank.

Note: Substitute flash drive for CD, if your system doesn't have a CD drive.

Hope this helps.

I'm trying to burn a music CD on my new HP computer and can't get the source disk to download to my hard drive. I'm an old dude and did print out the HP instruction sheet-still confused.

Hello rhughes612,

You may try burn by CD to CD burn but if you want to select files that you want to burn, you have to ripped the music from the Music CD by using Window Media Player 10 or higher. Or try using software that ripped music from CD.

This is the instruction of CD to CD:

1. Insert the source disk
2. Then hit burn or copy to CD on your HP CD & DVD burner software or application.
Then it will be temporarily copied to the hard drive.
3. after it finishes copying the source disk, you will be ask to insert a blank CD then hit continue or OK

Please reply or respond if this doesn't work so that I could provide you another solution and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

DUMB ME... I FORGOT THE MAIN PASSWORD TO MY HDD. HOW CAN I AVOID LIVING EVERYTHING?

Google Knoppix 6.1 and download it,
burn it to a cd and put in your cd rom drive.
Boot from cd rom drive into the linux cd environment
Attach a USB hard drive to the pc and open up the current hard drive from the machine

You should be able to transfer all your documents out without having to put in a password (unless you did full disk encryption)

My Iomega CDRW64001 keeps ejecting my blank CDs. The external LED blinks for several minutes and then ejects the CD with or without a burn program open. It plays recorded CDs and I'm able to install...

Your best solution (since your USB devices and your network-adapter are not working) is to remove the disk-drive from the old computer, and temporarily connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in the new computer, and then copy all your files from "old" to "new".

Or, try a different brand of "blank" CD-R disks -- the "firmware" (software inside the CD-writer) may not be recognizing "newly-manufactured" media). Unless you can update the firmware (by downloading the latest firmware on another computer, and burning a CD-R disk, and then taking that disk to your computer), it's easiest to "move" the disk-drive to the new computer.

Cant download VersaJette M300 without disk

M300 Vista Driver Image (ISO CD must be made) http://downloads.versacheck.com/download/m300patch/cdvjm300.zip

There are two ways to use the .ISO file: 1. To burn the .ISO file to any CD/DVD use a CD/DVD burning software like Nero, Roxio etc. Then run the CD/DVD to install drivers. or 2. Use a Virtual CD/DVD Drive Software which will allow you to use the .ISO file without burning it to a CD/DVD ROM. This software will create a Virtual CD/DVD drive which can open the .ISO file and let you use it just like a regular CD. Here is a list of some Virtual CD Software titles available: 1. Microsoft Virtual CD Drive Tool Free from Microsoft 2. ISO Buster 3. Deamon Tools 4. Undisker can open and install ISO files-free trial period

Gateway GT4010 bootup disk

If you have good internet access, you can download a live Linux distribution such as Knoppix, and burn the it to CD. Don't let the word "Linux" scare you out of this, Knoppix is very user-friendly. And there is loads of resources available online. Anyway, burn the CD, and boot the computer from it. It will take a little time to boot, as it is a live version running only in RAM. It has very powerful applications though, and you can access your hard drive from it so long as the drive is not corrupted beyond readability. If you can access the hard drive, you can view your files, and copy the files to a USB drive. Once you have your data, you can then shut down and restore windows if the drive will cooperate, or install to a new drive if necessary.

!!! Knoppix will not write to or erase any data from your hard drive without you give it permission to do so !!! It is about your safest option in that respect.

Just google Knoppix to find download sites. Most sites have instructions for downloading and burning your copy. And it's all FREE!!!

If you find my suggestions to be helpful, please share with us some details so that others may benefit from knowing the whole story. Thank you!

HELP!!!

You do realise you've posted an external hard disk problem under generic PDA problems?
From the sound of it you disconnected the drive without ejecting/unmounting it, please let us know what operating system you are using so we have some idea what disk repair tools you have available, from the sound of things you are using (suffering?;) Windows but what version.
Do you know what file-system the disk is formatted with? If you have never formatted it or have formatted under Windows without selecting any options it will almost certainly be formatted as FAT32.
If indeed you are suffering Windows you should have had a tools CD supplied with the drive, if you don't have it or cannot find it you will realistically need to download and burn a live Linux CD to provide rescue tools; if you have a fast internet connection download Ubuntu from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu although this is marked as an installer CD it functions as a live CD first and gives the option to install only if needed. If you do not have a fast internet connection download Puppy linux form here it's not particularly pretty but it does provide a full set of tools. **don't forget either CD image needs to be burned as an image not just copied to a disk.
Once you have provided the requested information and have a tools/live CD to hand we should be able to help further however you my get more responses if you post thus under the appropriate category.
