Keep Your Electronics Cool this Summer

Don't stack electronics. Your electronics conduct enough heat individually. If you have your gaming console on top of your DVD player, and your DVR on top of that, you should definitely split them up.
Keep vents clear. Almost every electronic device has one or more vents to control it’s temperature. Make it a point to look around your house for any loose items that may be obstructing the airflow around your electronic devices.
Position electronics away from heat. Use common sense when storing your electronics. Keep them out of direct sunlight, and if it’s possible, place them in the path of a fan or air conditioner. Hot air rises, so store things on the basement or ground level of your home.

How do I change the battery in ignition key for my 2008 xb scion?

I have two Toyotas and both of their keys start flaking out in the 4 to 5 year time frame. One of the cars is a 2009 Scion xB. Changing the battery is something a user can do but there are a few things to be careful about. Before disassembling make sure you are not in an area that can generate static electricity otherwise you risk blowing out your remote circuit. Lay out a sheet of aluminum foil and do all your work on it so that everything is at the same voltage potential. 1) remove the key from any keychain. 2) Near the keychain side of the key is a tiny slot on the edge. If you put a small blade screwdriver in this slot and twist it will pop of the case cover of your key's remote electronics. 3) The electronics module is inside the key with it's own plastic housing which pops right out of the key shell. 4) Once you have the module out notice that one side is black plastic while the other side is clear plastic. There are five edges to the module and on one corner is a small clear plastic tab protruding up. To the right of the tab is a hard to see but small slot where you must insert a small screwdriver to gently separate the tab underneath. At the same time, pull upward on the protruding tab and the clear plastic shell with the electronics should start to come out. Once apart the battery is visible, a CR 2016 watch battery, available usually at Target, Wal-Mart or any electronics store for ~ $2. Install the new battery and reverse the procedure and you should be good to go.

My picture is not cystal clear. Do I need a Hdmi cable with this tv or some kind of cable for a clear picture?

All HD televisions need HDMI cables for clear picture. If you don't have one, you're not utilizing HD. Opt-World has some good, low priced cables for HDMI.

My dvd player keeps saying fanchk and then tuns its self off

Hi JB,

It's telling you to check the cooling fan on the unit. Electronics are dust magnets. Sometimes the fans get jammed.

At any rate, make sure trhe fan is functioning and clear of dust molecules.

BEST regards
Mike

Before you buy anything, or spray anything, simply work the
controls. You may clear a dirty potentiometer or switch simply
by moving it several times. Consider that it may not have been
worked at all in many years on vintage equipment. You might
clear the dirt from a control simply by moving it.

If that doesn't work. ...

Go to an electronics store and get some "contact cleaner" or
similar, remove the equipment covers, spray the cleaner into the controls and switches. Work the controls and switches repeatedly, preferably before the solution has evaporated.

One of the common stores for such a cleaner in US is RadioShack.

Do not use solutions containing oil or solvents not made
for electronics. For example, do not use WD-40 or automotive
agents such as carburetor or brake cleaner.

Replace electrolytic capacitors in the power supply section. start with replacing (2) 860uf 180v caps just after the bridge rectifier and continue along the circuit. Some (15) or so capacitors later, it will clear the horizontal bars and lines and any high pitched noise that comes along with it.
