I need a new leather watch strap for Skagen Men's 355XLSLB watch. I purchased this watch November 2010 and cannot find any watch maker who carries a suitable leather watch strap. The problem appears to be the design of the strap. The fitting onto the watch is very narrow and Skagen have cut away both sides of the strap where it fits into the support fitting on the watch. This has weakened the strap and after some months wear it is in dangerof failing. I don't want to lose the watch by a strap failure, so I want to renew the scrap, preferable with a stronger strap which will fit into the same Skagen strap securing holes.
SOURCE: Adjusting the strap
Most clasps have a series of small holes drilled in them, and the end of the strap is held in by a small, spring-loaded bar whose ends are seated in one set of holes. Take the end of a small paperclip, or a large needle, and use it to depress the spring-loaded pin. You can then carefully slide it to another set of holes to make the band smaller. Don't let the ends of the pin slide all the way out of the clasp, or it might shoot off into space.
SOURCE: DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIT NEW WATCH STRAP WITH PINS
Get pen knife and insert the blade between the watch strap and watch lug from the bottom side. Pry the springbar inwards using lever action. This must release the springbar.
