When I turned the camera on a message appeared "turn camera off and on again" when I switch it on nothing happens. Battery is full. Any ideas?

We see this camera often because the lens gets compressed some how and the plastic gears which drive it become damaged, this would be the "buzzing" noise you're hearing during power up. The camera is not passing its power up diagnostics and therefore it shuts down. The lens is not cost effective to replace on this camera, parts and labor exceed a replacement units cost. Hope this is some help. Good Luck Joe Weibel Custom Electronics (customelectronics.org)

The lens can not move due to a possible obstruction.
Gently put some force on the lens, turn the camera on and it works. I suppose there is too much friction between lens and camera.

Same problem. At least for now, I solved problem, or at least camera is working again, by putting mode dial in "normal" (not A1) and holding down menu and down button (macro button) while turning camera on. Hope it works for you and continues to work for me.

Sometimes this message appears when force has been applied to the lens. Here are some things to try. Go into the setup menu and find "reset" to reset the camera. If that doesn't work, remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...insert the card and then the battery. You may have a lens problem that can only be repaired at a service facility.

You are experiencing a media miscommunication. This due to low or incorrect amount of voltage to the cameras coding circuits.Take a Q-Tip "dampened" with rubbing alcohol and clean inside the battery compartment well. Do the battery contacts and the charger the same way. You should be all set after this. Dana
