SOURCE: Can I play my ipod through my Onkyo TX-SR600 receiver?

All you have to do is get a 3.5mm plug to two RCA plugs lead and plug the 3.5 Jack in the headphone socket of your ipod and the two RCA's into an aux imput and away you go. If you get one of the small docks, that will stop the battery running down, but you don't need one.
By the look of the picture on FixYa it looks the RCA's can go in the front socket under the volume control.

So what do i do if when i turn my onkyo tx-sv454 receiver on it says protect and then shuts off? How do i fix that or get around it? please help me....

I don't think you can fix it, unless you're skilled with electronics. Possibility that something has occurred internally with a circuit board etc so the system shuts down in order to protect itself from catching on fire etc. Get it services. Might not be too bad of an issue, but certainly not a bypass.

Bose Cinemateonnect

Hi lechap,

With the indulgence of IB4G2008 as per his last post Feb 13.....

If I figure your concerns right, they are:
1. You have an iPod on an Onkyo IPod dock that you want to connect to an Onkyo receiver TX-302;
2. You have an Onkyo receiver TX-302 that you want to power a set of Bose Cinemate speakers;
3. the connectors on some do not fit or are not the same;
4. you want to know what goes to where.

If I may suggest:
a. connect the L/R Audio Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the L/R Audio IN of VIDEO 1 using a pair of RCA to RCA cable. Connect the S Video Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the Video IN of VIDEO 1 using an S Video to RCA Video cable. Thereafter if you want to watch a movie or play music from your iPod, you need to choose Video 1 in the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You can of course choose any other VIDEO 1~3;572fcdc.jpg34ab5d3.jpg

b. all other source/devices may be connected similarly using the same scheme on any of the free VIDEO / AUDIO inputs
c. of course the MONITOR OUT goes to your TV or projector.

With respect to the Bose Cinemate, it would not be technically correct to connect the Bose Cinemate speakers straight to the speaker out of the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You need to install another set of speakers to the speaker outs of the Onkyo receiver. The Bose Cinamate system's TV AUDIO could be connected to the TAPE OUT (or the AUDIO L/R OUT of VIDEO 1)

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

No sound on right speaker when playing input on CD or PHONO

Nothing should be connected to PHONO except a turntable.

Reverse the leads left-to-right and see where that takes you for the root. Might be a bad cable.

I need to know if it is possibly to plug an iPod into my ONKYO AV RECEIVER TX-SR506?

Yes it is. The easiest way to go about this is to get a stereo mini male to left and right male rca cable. Connect the stereo mini end into your ipod, and the left and right male RCA end into an available input on your reciever. Change the input on the reciever to correspond with the input you connected to. Ensure your ipod is powered on and playing with the volume turned up. This set up will play through your reciever but will not charge your ipod. If you want it to charge while playing, than you will need to get a dock.

Surround mode is set to OFF

I was able to solve this problem by using the "A" speaker jacks and eventually I pushed the right buttons to get the Surround mode to turn ON. I believe it was when I hit the Parameter Selection button that allowed the surround mode to become active.

Can I connect an ipod to Onkyo tx-ds595?

I connect my iPod to my Onkyo using a stereo cable with mini-plug on one end and RCA L&R outs on the other. Just plug the RCA plugs into the AUX or TAPE IN on the Onkyo, and the stereo mini plug into the iPod and play as usual.
