I descaled my Oscar and it worked fine but last night the heater light came on and it won't go off and I cannot get any steam from the steam wand. Water still flows from the grouphead when I press the brew button and it's hot, but not quite as hot as it was before. Turning on the machine when it's cold just results in the heater light coming on instantly and no matter if I open the steam wand first or wait 10 - 20 minutes and then open the wand no steam is being produced. Is it the heating element or something else that's broken?
When you descale your machine, how did you drain the water? I think the scale particles clogged your steam pipe. And also if you had put a lot of descaling chemicals, this chemicals can eat up the heating element. If you can remove the heater and check it physically and also cleaning and removing the scale inside the tank will help.

I have the same machine. I just went on the coffee geeks website and it is easily solved. Just add a few grains of salt to the reservoir - the sensor cant detect water that is purified - strange but true as four grains and it fired up just like that.

Either the brew solenoid is bad or the shower screen is blocked or the metering jet on the top of the head is clogged.

Descale boiler and group then make sure steam gauge reads 1.2 bar. If not adjust p.stat.

I think my heating element is blown. I forgot that I had a GFCI outlet in my kitchen so I connected the Oscar to it and it trips the outlet everytime I turn it on. So can someone tell me or give me directions or advice on the best way to go about replacing the element please? I have previously taken apart a few Starbucks Barista machines and taken apart their boilers but this machine looks a bit more complicated. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! :)
