3/4 + 5/12 you need the bottom number the same to add them together
you need to make the bottom number known as denominator the same
so if you multiply as an example 6 by one you get the same number 6.
so if you multiply 3/4 by 3/3 (which is one) you get 9/12
adding 9/12 plus 5/12 you get 14/12
this is 1 and 2/12
2/12 divided by 2/2 (which is one) simplifies the fraction to 1/6
so the answer is 1 and 1/6
7(3x+5) = 8x -1(1-4x)
Let's distribute
21x + 35 = 8x -1 + 4x
collect like terms
21x + 35 = 12x -1
Put all the x's on one side by subtracting 12x from both sides
21x -12x + 35 = 12x -1 -12x
simplify
9x + 35 = -1
get all the constants on the right side
9x + 35 - 35 = -1 - 35
9x = -36
divide both sides by 9 to get x by itself
9x /9 = -36/9
x = -4
Enter the fraction for example: enter 8/12.
The answer will be .666666
Then click Math (which is located under the Alpha button).
Click the ->Frac button (the first one).
It should come up as Ans->Frac.
Click Enter.
It should now read 2/3 which is 8/12 reduced.
