You are most likely in PS there is a slide switch on the L. of the keyboard it should be in 10 or 12, Slide it up and down a few times they do get dirty.

    This is EXACTLY correct. There will be a number 10, 12, 15 on the printwheel itself, and this number is where the slider should be set to. This STILL APPLIES when in on-line mode being used as a printer(I use it with windows 10), or when typing files from it's own internal memory.

Hi. Do you mean "wrong position" like pressing letter "J" produce a different letter or produce a number? Is it consistent like pressing letter "J" always produce the same wrong letter or number or is it randomly producing different letters every time you pressed the same key?

The typewriter is set in P.S. mode instead of 10 or 12. This switch is in lower left corner of keyboard.
