Hello, On my sheet of error codes i dont see a A8 for Ge/Hotpoint dishwasher(ge makes the hotpoint brand) i do see a C8 which i assume is the same thing and that says the detergent cup was blocked and couldn't properly open
Hi, the interpretation for error code A10 is: A10 = fill solenoid valve triac closed/open circuit - check valve/ operation - machine drains until level switch resets + 30"
Now, to try and solve the problem yourself: Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher & remove the hose, Run the machine for several minutes in a normal position. Turn the machine off, reconnect the fill hose, turn the water back on then turn the machine back on.
If this doesn't solve the problem, then you'll need to call a service person.
I have exactly the same problem with my FDW60 model! I have email hotpoint to ask them whats the matter with it, so if/when i get an answer i will let you know!

Disconect POWER at breaker or fuse panel which should be on a seperate braker. if not find the power sorce and unplug the device.
FOR SAFTEY Kneel on a thick doormat if you have to disconect power which has a plug. Wait for a an hour so to let all circuits, timers and motors to cool ... with diswasher in the OFF position,
Re-establish POWER. then go ahead and start washer as sugessted by the Manufacturer.
Make sure to notice any other codes that may appear. Or any peculiar noises.
Most default codes appear if water pressure is too low.
Top loaders are natorious for plugged drain lines and can be flushed by the home-ownwr.
Make sure to check that water strainer is not cloged or restricted.
Hotpoints CODES change from year to year, You can contact a Hotpoint Dealer in your area ... Give him the Make, Model, and any Series numbers to him. MOST will tell you what the CODES ARE FOR THAT MODEL OR EVEN E-MAIL ALL OF THEM TO YOU.
Good Luck ... Be Safe
