Getting Started

Before you run the ROM Update Utility (RUU), make sure you have done the following:

• Backed up the data on your device.
• Standby or hibernation mode of your PC has been disabled.
• Close all running applications on the PC.
• Set aside approximately 25 minutes to allow the device to update.
• Charged the battery to at least 30%.

1. Download HTC Sync for Android.
   
   Install the HTC Sync software on your PC if it is not already installed. This software was included in your HTC Hero gift box. The minimum required HTC Sync version is 2.0.28. We have HTC Sync for Android 2.0.40 available for download; newer versions might be available from www.htc.com.

2. Download the Hero 2.1 MR Upgrade executable file.

3. Connect your HTC Hero to your PC.
   
   Use the supplied USB cable.
   
   If the HTC Sync application appears on the screen of your PC, you may simply dismiss the wizard by pressing the Cancel button.
   
   
4. Run the Hero 2.1 MR Upgrade RUU file.
   
   Follow the on-screen prompts to install the update for your HTC Hero

WARNING: During the upgrade process, do not attempt to make/receive calls, press any buttons on your device or disconnect the device from the USB cable as this will stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable!

If you have a problem with the connection between your device and PC be sure to check the connection type in your device. This can be done in the device via Settings -> Connect to PC. Ensure that HTC Sync is selected.

If spanish doesnt show, your version of software might not have spanish and you will need to contact htc or the distributor nearest from you to eventually change the version. Hope this helps!

if you do speak spanish- go to "Settings" ---> "Phone Settings" -->> "Languange" and choose english.

Using the HTC Hero as a USB Modem
In order to use this functionality, the HTC Sync software must be installed onto the PC first (http://blog.brightpointuk.co.uk/synchronise-htc-hero-microsoft-outlook).
The HTC Sync installer is included on the SD card that comes in the Hero sales package, or alternatively is available for download from our FTP site:

You can download the software to your PC, or insert the microSD card into a suitable reader to access the software.
Once installed, on the Hero device browse to Settings --> Wireless Controls and enable the option to enable Mobile Network Sharing. Now connect the Hero to the PC via the supplied USB cable. Windows will detect the new hardware automatically and install an "HTC Remote NDIS Network Adapter": Provided that your Hero has a cellular data connection, you will now be able to use that connection from your PC.

The Flash support for the Hero is still very limited. I think they advertise it as Flash Lite, so you will not get full Flash content loading properly on your phone.

The other issue you may be experiencing is that you have plug-ins disabled from your Browser settings. Flash is a plug-in that needs to be turned on. With your Browser up, go to Menu > More > Settings > Enable plugins.

I'm a HTC Hero user on Meteor BillPay. Had the same problem and got the following solution from Meteor support which worked for me. On the phone, navigate to :

- Settings
- Wireless Controls
- Mobile Network Settings
- Access Point Names
- Meteor Data
- APN Type

Change the value here to the word "default".

Restart the phone and bob's your uncle. I did this and it worked a treat.

u need just to change the normal language to spanish then u can go to settings and regional settings and change it to spanish

but if u want complete spanish windows then

u need a spanish rom for ur pda if it is available on www.htc.com other wise u can get it from xda developers tell me if it helps pls vote
