Ice dispencer on my GE GSH25JFRFWW side by side refrigerator / freezer works Intermittently and when it does not work the LED dims and the light in the dispenser dims also and if you keep trying to use it the refrigerator will stop working and you have to unplug it for a period of time to get it to start cooling.

I had the problem with no water or ice dispenced and the lights dim when dispencer is used and the refrigerator compresser stops after using the dispencer and had to unplug and reset unit. GE DID NOT WARANTY IT. I bought a new motherboard for about $88 and fixed my problem. As the video shows there can be other problems that will cause some of these symptoms but not all at once. My frige was only 2 years old when this happened.
I have a similar model refrigerator and problem and had a techincian look at it yesterday. He replaced the main electrical board on the back of the refrigerator and told me it was covered be a factory recall or extended waranty from GE didn't charge anything, said that GE was covering the cost.
Sounds like the motor that turns the ice auger is overloading the system, maybe shorting to ground.

My ice maker is working properly but the dispenser isn't. The in door water and ice dispenser won't work. When a glass trips the paddle the dispenser light dims and there's a electrical groan, like it's trying to work but the auger is blocked, but it isn't.
My Ice maker is working but the crushed and cubed ice won't dispense ice. When the paddle is pushed in to get the ice, the light dims and the small ice door doesn't always open but no ice is dispensed. The auger doesn't turn and the solenoid doesn't energize for the crushed ice. I replaced the 5 button fornt panel but no help.
The other post says it all just started today oh and my fridge moans also this is covereed in another post seems to be the same fix, change the main electrical board
The motor that drives the cube auger doesn't run. I took it out and it had a small coating of frost on it. I clipped a 115 vac jumper onto the motor terminals and it would not run. After the frost melted, the motor would run OK. Is there a small heater element somewhere that keeps frost from building up on this motor?
