Keyboard failure Hello Expert, May I ask your help to fix my computer problem? The keyboard does not let me enter anything for password after i deleted some files and set up password for the only user. No response when I type any letter or number on the keyboard. I used two kind of different keyboards, both work on another computer but do not work on this computer. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Jennifer Chen

    Hi Jennhc

Could you please elaborate what files you deleted.

To double check press the "Delete" key when system boots up also check if the "NumLock", "CapsLock" indication Led's(Lights) light up when you switch on the PC. If the pc goes in to bios setup when pressing "Delete" key the keyboard interface on the motherboard is fine and your problem is then software related.

Boot up the computer while pressing F8. A page with different menus appear. Select safe mode. Computer may respond slowly but have patience. When the names Administrator, Guest and usernames appears select administrator. For password press enter key. Once the window screen appears in safe mode go to --Start---Programmes--accessories--system tools----system restore.

Here u may be able to restore to a date where computer was working fine.

Boot up or restart your Toshiba laptop.

Immediately and repeatedly tap the F2 key on your keyboard until the start screen appears to change your BIOS (user) and supervisor

(HDD user) passwords.

Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight "Set User Password" or "Set HDD User Password" and press "Enter" on your keyboard.

Type the current password in the box that appears.

Type your new password ox.

You will be asked to enter your new password a second time to confirm it.

I bought a Sylvania SYNET07526 in CVS and everything was working fine. Yesterday I put a password to login to then I turn it off. Today I turned on the netbook and asks me the password but do not let me...

Hello, I think you can plug in an external keyboard in one of the usb ports on the side (not the back ones) One is for an external mouse, and one for a keyboard.
If you have an external keyboard with a usb plug on it, try plugging it in and entering your password that way.
Doesn't everything bought new have warranty of some kind?-It does in the UK anyway.
Kind regards,

OMG! got a problem w/ my temporary password @ Kp! cant activate it!??!!! how do i log in! huhuhu

If you are talking abou the user name and assword on login screen then you need to restart computer and start tapping F8 key on keyboard, you will get Advanced boot option, stop pressing the F8 key, you need to select safe mode with the help of up and down arrow keys on keyboard, hit enter on Admin username if it ask then click on start>control panel>user name and then select your user name and change the password, restart your computer and then enter the new password.

* If you do not find user name under control panel then look for classic view on top left corner of the screen and click on it.

Hope this would fix the issue.

Power-on password forgotten! How can the computer be started?

The Power on Password is set from the BIOS configuration. Ask that person who borrowed your Compaq for the password. Once you have this password, you can enter the BIOS configuration and remove/disable this password.
Depending how old you Compaq is, removing the BIOS battery and main battery for 15+ mins may remove this password and restore the BIOS to the factory default (insert both batteries again) and configure the BIOS Date and Time etc.
BUT if the the password is stored on an EEPROM chip then removing will not fix this problem. There are no backdoor passwords available.

Administrator password help/ password boot cd

Hello pink,

In order for your PC to read your CD on boot, you don't have to enter your BIOS settings. When you start your computer, press the F12 button repeatedly (like F12-F12-F12-F12), and your pc will ask you which boot device you would like to use.
http://ice.he.net/~hedden//images/F2_for_Setup_Dell.jpg

It will show you a screen like this:

Just select your CDROM in the list, and hit enter. this will read your bootable CD.

I hope this helps.
Jerry.

Wireless Keyboard not connecting

I opened up the Logitech Mouse and Keyboard Settings, turned my keyboard off, changed out the batteries and turned it back on. It then detected the Keyboard and asked for a password, I entered in the password, it said it was rebooting it and asked for another password which I entered (both passwords were given to me in the Settings). Now it is working just fine! Not sure if you have tried this but it might work for you.
