SOURCE: Makita 1850 battery charger FIX.

I have a BL1830 Lithium Ion LXT battery that will not charge because the charger tells me the battery is broken. I have taken the battery apart to find no problems with the connection from cell to cell. There is a small circuit board that I cant find any visible signs of damage on. The battery will still run a flashlight or a drill but it is almost drained.

So I have a Makita 1850 battery that says it's broken when I put it in the charger. But when I took it apart all voltage and connections are good. Any ideas were i can get a new circuit board or how I...

I’m not sure if you can buy a new c/board .
The charger tests the battery before charging & if it picks up a fault it won’t charge the battery. At our repair shop we just replace the whole battery ( under makita warranty if it’s under two years old / depending on what warranty your country has )

Rebuilding makita battery instructions

Rechargeable batteries are almost never worth rebuilding and never last very long when they are. In some cases, Makita being one, if the circuit board in the battery detects something wrong with the battery, it 'bricks' the battery. This is not resettable and the battery will not charge on a Makita charger. I'd be looking to get my money back from the repairman since his rebuild didn't take.

Charger not powering up, fuse is good?? what the f---?

Internal board fuse checked? This may/may not help?

Makita 1850 battery charger FIX. A friend asked me to check his charger unit which had failed after it had been connected to a portable petrol generator that incorrectly generated 317 Volts AC and not the usual 240 Volt AC. On the charger circuit board next to the transformer wire connection is a component marked F2; this is a 2.5Amp fuse covered with heat-shrink sleeving. This fuse had ruptured/blown. Also blown was Transistor Q1, a ''P'' Mosfet labelled IRF9Z24N and Schottky Diode D9 labelled SR560. Replacing these 3 items got the charger working again. NB Resistor R31 is only 0.1ohm - don't assume it's gone short circuit! NB. I'd presume that most other Makita chargers will have this heat-shrink sleeving ''camoflaged'' fuse on the input of the circuit board and it would definitely be worth checking if the charger has stopped working. Makita DC1414 schematic

From my experience most chargers do not have replacement parts. And when you do find a schematic for a battery charger it consists of just the cord and housing, and the printed circuit board is not available. This is the case with this model DC1414. The cord and housing are the only things available for replacement. You can purchase a new charger for around $37. If you have any questions please post back.

Was given a Coleman power drill, model CMD8189. The charger is inoperable. The two resisters on the charger internal circuit board have been fried. The resistor codes have been burnt off, so I cannot

I need the same, but found a Makita multi-voltage charger and have been able to use it. The package says It is for Makita batteries only. HItachi also makes a universal battery charger. I found both at my local Lowe's. The Makita was originally $69, but was marked down to $25. The Hitachi was around $70. You can find either one for good prices on Ebay or Amazon.

Good luck!

Charger no light and wont charge

Sorry to give you my opinion, but these chargers are very delicate, I have 4 and can barely keep 2 going. My recommendation? Open it up and look for obvious shorts/loose wires, if no luck then buy another one and return the busted one as if it were the new one. You will end up with two working chargers. PS this is probably fraud...ha!

MAKITA DC1290A CHARGER PROBLEM

Makita generally does not provide a schematic for the charger wiring. The only parts that are usually replaceable are the cord and housings and possibly a fuse. If this is an older charger I would look for a "cold solder joint" I fixed quite a few for this and one component breaking loose. I dont know if Makitausa website can help or not. What volt is this charger, I have a couple in my garage that I can look at also
