Cannot use the direct tv remote to control the volume, on / off, etc.

Please, I need the code to program the direct tv remove to turn on and off my ILO 32 hd tv. They gave me two different codes and none work with this tv. Please, if you have any codes or some kind of a procedure, I would like to know. I hate using two remotes. Thanks. Al

direct tv remote does not work with olevia tv

  • clpd1 Nov 22, 2007

My ilo 32 LCVD TV came without the remote in the box. No problem. I'll have the cable remote programmed to run the TV. Wrong. The TV cable company has no code to program their remote to an ilo TV. So I bought a sony universal remote. They listed ilo and gave a remote code number of 098. It didn't work. So I went through the manual steps over 200 mtimes. Still doesn't work. I called Sony. They gavwe me the 098 code. I told them it didn't work. They had no other code and said the chip in the remote must not be compatible with an ilo TV. What now. I can't change the channel manually to channel 3 so the cable box will work. The TV is worthless.

DirecTV now supports ILO. Here are the codes:

11286, 11603, 11684, 11990.

11684 worked for me (42" ILO). The catch is you need a new remote! My one year old remote would not accept these codes.

For Directv remotes try Toshiba codes. I used Toshiba code 10156 on my model RC23 Directv remote and it worked with my 32" ilo!
1. Switch the selector to TV on the top of the remote.
2. Press both the Mute & Select buttons at the same time until the green light blinks twice.
3. Enter code.
4. Press Power button.
Make sure you are in front of your television about 3 feet away. The remote signal doesn't seem to work well even at a slight angle.
Good luck!
P.S. If that codes doesn't work here are the other Toshiba codes listed on Directv.com for the RC23 Remote.

Follow these instructions from the Direc TV web site. or go to http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/customer/downloadPage.jsp?assetId=1100066 and select remote controls and select your model of remote for instructions. If you were unable to find the code for your brand of TV or component, you can try a code search. This process may take up to 30 minutes. 1. Turn on the TV or component. Insert a tape or disk if applicable. 2. Slide the MODE switch to the TV, AV1 or AV2 position, as desired. 3. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the selected switch position flashes twice, then release both keys. 4. Enter 9-9-1 followed by one of the following fourdigits: 10 5. Press PWR, or other functions (e.g. PLAY for VCR) you want to use. 6. Point the remote at the TV or component and press CHAN+. Repeatedly press CHAN+ until the TV or component turns off. NOTE: Every time CHAN+ is pressed the remote advances to the next code and power is transmitted to the component. 7. Use the CHAN- key to step back a code. 8. When the TV or component turns off, stop pressing the CHAN+ key. Then, press and release the SELECT key. NOTE: If the light flashes 3 times before the TV or component responds, you've cycled through all codes and the code you need is not available. You must use the remote that came with your TV or component.

Ok... I HAD the same problem... Direct TV Remote wouldn't work with Olevia TV despite ANY codes that Direct TV or anybody replying to solution forums say they are. I DID find a solution though! Use the Remote's Code search function, BUT SKIP the first code that turns off the TV... CONTINUE to press the Channel + button after manually turning the TV back on after the first successful code that turns off the TV. This is the ONLY solution that I have found that works and I haven't seen it posted on any solution site. TRY IT.. BET IT WORKS FOR YOU AS WELL! (If not, skip the 2nd code as well... Olevia HAD to have copied a major brand-name's remote code scheme because all the generic TV manufacturers end up copying a known companies' setup... but a LOT of them neglect to tell you which brand they copied... I have owned many generic TV's that I couldn't get codes for for many remotes through the past 35 years... and this has been the case on ALL OF THEM!) Keep this in mind when you think you can't get a remote to control basic functionality with ANY TV and ANY remote.

I found that my Direct TV DVR lists Olevia codes as 11144, 11240,11331, 11610. However, my DVR isn't attached the Olevia. I have a newer box with the RC64 remote on the Olevia and even without the TV being listed in the brands, I used 11610 code and it works just like every other TV I've programmed with Direct TV.

  • Anonymous Nov 11, 2012

Olevia LCD LT205 code was 11240 for the Direct TV remote! Thanks for the help.

Guys a remark like "buy samsung" is not a fix, it is a waste of time. Please if you have an answer, give it. If you don't have an ACTUAL answer than please don't post. Me having to post this for the idiots of the world is a waste of my time. I don't like wasting my time.  I bought an Olevia for my Grandmother. Great deal and actually the picture is better than my 42" Panasonic that I paid $1,000 more for. Olevia is a OEM product. They are actually the same as Samsung and LG. Same parts. And Yamaha, that is why the Yamaha code works for some and 11610 works for others. OEM products are the same as name brand.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you Olevia product purchasers got your LCD Flats as a promotional attachment. We got ours with a manufactured home through a Fleetwood Vendor. Could there be something to this tech. problem? Like Fleet... got a package discount and pulled a Windows/Gates/monoploly thing? I'm pissed if the Direct TV/Olevia HDTV(242T in my case)remote incompatiblity isn't a coincidence! And they dumped these TVs off cheap to Fleetwood and passed the problem off to us...anyone want to pursue this? JH Idaho

You need to reset the remote it is in the menu under setting how to reset the remote.  Then try reprogramming their numbers in.

I worked on an Olevia just yesterday (2-12-08) and found that the remote was not programmable to DirecTV. During the installation I asked the owner what he paid for the set, he replied that he "got a great deal" by paying only 500 dollars. Some great deal!! My suggestion....go with a name brand, pay the extra money.

Have not been able to get it to work to turn TV on & off and on sound---

Try by set it up with an other set-up code said for your device brand. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.
http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/
http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/
Search the site by type in the brand name of your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the Home page display" to see the set-up codes to your device, with different brand remote controls.
Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list,
use the Auto Code
Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may
be another code
in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
Direct Code Entry
Locate the Remote Code List provided in this manual. Find the DEVICE CATEGORY you wish to program (for
example TV, CBL,
DVR, DVD, SAT, AUDIO, AUX1, AUX2) and then find the BRAND of that device. Circle all the codes under that
brand. Example: For a GE TV, locate the TV code section then circle all of the GE TV codes.
Manually turn on the device you wish to control.
Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator light stays on (approximately 2 seconds) and then release
the SETUP button.
Press and release the desired device button on the remote (TV, CBL, DVR, DVD, SAT, AUDIO, AUX1, AUX2). The
red indicator will blink
once and then remain on.
Enter the first 4-digit code previously found in the code list using the number buttons on the remote. If the code
entered is a valid code, the
red indicator light will turn off. If the code entered is not a valid code, the red indicator light will flash and remain on
allowing you to re-enter the code.
[If no buttons are pressed for 35 seconds, the remote will exit the SETUP mode and you will have to start over.]
Point the remote at the device. Press the POWER button, if the device turns off, no further programming is required
for that device. If the device does not turn off, return to step 3 and use the next code found in the code list. Continue
this process until a code for your device is found.
To view a helpful demonstration video for programming your ONN remote, see QR code.
• You can use any device button to control other devices in your home entertainment system. For example, you can
use the AUX1 device
button to control an audio receiver or a DVD, VCR, satellite, etc.
• For combination devices, you may have to enter a code for each device. For example, for a VCR/DVD device, you
may have to enter a
code for the DVD under the DVD button and enter a code for the VCR using a different device button on the remote.
• Write down the code found to operate your device for future reference.
Auto Code Search
The Auto Code Search searches automatically through all of the codes stored in this remote. Read all the following
steps prior to starting the auto code search as you will need to be prepared to lock-in the proper code when found.
1.Manually turn on the device you wish to control.
2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator light stays on (approximately 2 seconds) and then release
the button.

3. Press and release the desired device button on the remote (TV, CBL, DVR, DVD, SAT, AUDIO, AUX1, AUX2).
The red indicator will blink once and then remain on.
4. Point the remote at the device and press and release the POWER button (for TV) or PLAY button (for DVD, VCR,
etc.) to start the search. The red indicator will flash (approximately every 2 seconds) as the remote searches. Note:
The remote must be pointed at the device for the duration of this search.
5. Place your finger on the #1 button so you are prepared to lock-in the code.
6. When the device shuts off or begins playing, press the #1 button to lock-in the code. The red indicator light will turn
off. Note: You have
approximately two seconds after the device shuts off or begins playing to lock-in the code.
7. Point the remote at the device and check to see if the remote operates the device as desired. If it does, no further
programming is required for that device. If it does not, return to step 2 and start the auto search.
• This process may take several minutes as the remote contains many codes.
• The SETUP button can be used during the search process to reverse the direction of the search of the remote
codes. For example, if you miss the code for your device and the remote is continuing to search (as indicated by the
blinking red light), press the SETUP button and the code search will reverse direction and return to the code.
• When using the Auto Code Search programming method, the device button corresponding to the type of device you
want to control must be selected (for example, the TV device button must be selected in step 3 if you want to control
a TV, the DVD/VCR device button for a DVD player, etc.)
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may
be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Continue the code search as directed above until the
best code is found.
Controlling Combo Devices
Some Combo devices (e.g. TV/VCR, TV/DVD, DVD/VCR, etc.) will require you to setup up two different Mode
buttons to control both parts of the Combo device. For example, if you have a TV/DVD Combo, you might need to set
up one code under the TV button to control the TV part AND a separate code (under any other Mode button) to
control the DVD part.
Master Volume Feature
The Master Volume Feature allows you to select a single device (TV or audio receiver) that the volume control
always controls. For example, the remote can be in TV mode while the volume buttons control the volume on your
audio receiver instead of your TV.
Enabling the Master Volume Feature
Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on (approximately 4 seconds) and then release the
button.
2. Press and release desired device button (TV, CBL, DVR, DVD, SAT, AUDIO, AUX1, AUX2) for the device you
wish to setup to control
the volume.
3. Press and release the MUTE button.
4. Press and release the VOL + button. The red indicator will blink twice and then go off. To test the feature put the
remote in another mode such as the TV mode if you programmed the audio receiver to be the Master Volume
Device. Point the remote at the audio receiver,
press and hold either the VOL + or the VOL - button. If the audio receiver volume changes then the remote is
programmed correctly. If the TV volume changes and not the audio receiver, you will have to repeat the steps above
and test again.
Disabling the Master Volume Feature
Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on (approximately 2 seconds) and then release the
button.
2. Press and release the device button (TV, CBL, DVR, DVD, SAT, AUDIO, AUX1, AUX2) which is programmed to
control the Master Volume Feature.
3. Press and release the MUTE button.
4. Press and release the VOL - button. The red indicator light will blink twice and go off. To make sure the Master
Volume Feature is disabled, put the remote in TV mode if you programmed the audio receiver to be the Master
Volume Device. Point the remote at the TV and
press a volume button. If the volume changes on the TV, the feature is disabled. If the volume on the audio receiver
changes, and not the TV, you will have to repeat the steps above and test again.
Reset to Factory Settings
Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on (approximately 2 seconds) and then release the
button.
2. Press and release the MUTE button.
3. Press and release the number #0 button. The red indicator light will flash twice.
Remote does not operate your device.
• Make sure the batteries are fresh and installed correctly.
• Aim the remote directly at your device, and make sure that there are no obstructions between the remote and
device.
• Make sure you select the appropriate device on the remote you wish to control, for example, TV for TV, DVD for

How can i program a universal remote control for my sylvania tv?

Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

Code Search
If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by following these steps.
  1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
  2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  3. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks once, then stays on.
  4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  5. Press and release MUTE to install the code. The indicator light goes off.
Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search.

Direct TV remote does not control TV on/off or volume.

I have the same setup like you. Direct TV and Emerson LCD TV. The Direct TV remote stores a limited amount of codes and none worked on my TV. Sadly it's not something you can update. They seem to only stick with the popular codes. Welcome to the "head of the curve" like me. lol

Need code to program toshiba tv with Direct tv remote

someone esle found this.. and it worked for me

Program AV1 with 20695, program TV with 10765, then switch to AV1, press select/mute, enter 933, and press select

This will allow volume and mute controls while in DTV mode and allow power on and off while in TV mode. This worked for me on the RC32 remote control.
